MOODSWINGS- S. GOJO
you'd been slipping away from gojo for weeks now. but he'd do anything to get you back. cw: angst, saddness, gojo being gojo, failing relationship, happy ending song: moodswings by 5sos
"I CAN TELL WHEN YOU'RE SLIPPING FROM ME. EVEN WHEN IT'S ONLY SUBCONCIOUSLY."
It had started small. A dull ache in his chest as he watched you slide closer and closer towards the edge of the bed, no longer sleeping in his arms. He couldnât place the emotion but every breath, every glance that didnât meet his eyes, every time you speed walked past his office, he felt you slipping away from him.
Gojo sat with his head bowed on the edge of your bed. His blindfold lay abandoned on the table, exchanged for his sunglasses.
His fingers twitched against his knees as he waited for you to come home from work. Despite working together, the two of you hadnât come home together in a while. You used to walk side by side, laughing and sharing stories about your day, but those distant memories began to fade in his mind.
The sound of the bedroom door unlocking snapped him out of his thoughts and he straightened reflexively. Your footsteps were soft on the hardwood floor as you made your way to your bathroom, getting ready for bed.
âGoodnight, Satoru.â
You smiled as you climbed into bed, clinging to the pillow as you fell asleep, your body angled away from him.
Itâd been weeks since Satoru last felt your warmth in his arms. Weeks since heâd woken up to the feeling of you pressed against his chest. He wasnât sure exactly when youâd left his arms but the distance between the two of you continued to grow.
He missed you. Every morning when he woke up, he craved your touch. He craved for the sound of your laugh. But settled for hearing it across the break room when you spoke with Shoko. It wasnât the same, but it was all he had left.
But it wasnât until one night in the rain as the two of you waited for the first years to finish a mission that Gojo truly understood you and why the distance had first started.
âSatoru. Do you like the man youâve become since high school?â
Your eyes avoided his, but your voice stayed steady. It caught him off guard and he let out a laugh, joking about he was the strongest.
He hadnât noticed the way your fist clenched, and your lips pursed as he waited for your response.
âRight.â
Heâd started coming home late last week. He told himself it was because he had missions but truly, he was just avoiding the emptiness of your home. Youâd noticed but didnât wait up for him. Now, his dinner sat on the counter- neatly cling-wrapped with sticky notes atop it.
âMicrowave.â Or âsoda in fridgeâ.
Nothing more than a few words, distant and impersonal. But with the care you had for him when you first gotten married. You always remembered his love for sweet foods and drinks.
As he sat in bed with you, backs facing each other, he wondered how this all started- trying to pinpoint when exactly youâd started slipping away from him. Your question rang through his ears.
âDo you like the man youâve become since highschool?â
He didnât have an answer. Not one he wanted to say aloud.
He came home early one day and saw you sitting on the sofa, staring at your wedding ring and twisting it around your finger. The sunlight lit up your face in a way that reminded Gojo of your wedding day. But there was a look in your eyes that he couldnât ignore.
He crept up on you and asked you what you were thinking about.
âJust remembering.â
He hadnât pressed further. But he wished he had. He buried himself in missions to pick up extra money. He had enough but heâd managed to convince himself that the more he provided for you, the more you wouldnât want to leave. But that wasnât the root of the issue.
Especially when he overheard a conversation you were having with Shoko during a lunch break.
âI donât even know who he is anymore, Shoko,â youâd sighed. âItâs like heâs a completely different man than the one I married.â
Shokoâs response was drowned out by the thumping of his heart. The words felt like a slap in the face, even if they werenât meant for him to hear.
He wanted to argue- to burst in the room and tell you that he was the same as the man youâd married. But was he really?
âDo you like the man youâve become since high school?â
The question had haunted him for a while, playing on loop in his mind whenever he saw your face.
Itâd been a while since youâd yelled at him. Arguments went unsaid between you two. Not until he came home battered and bloody after a mission. Hurt but victorious.
âSatoru, what the HELL? Why didnât you go to Shoko?â
Youâd rushed to his side to take care of him, using the first aid kid to take care of and clean his wounds. It would be a lie to say that he hadnât considered getting injured again to feel your touch more often.
That night, he watched the rain fall and run down the side of the window as the two of you continued your dance of sleeping with your backs to each other.
He turned for a moment to reach out to you, his hand hovering inches above your shoulder as you slept. But he couldnât bring himself to reach you. Instead, he let his hand fall back to his side.
From that day forward, he pledged to become the man you married. He started coming home on time, even offering to drive you home. Â
You hadnât seen the inside of his Tesla in weeks. It seemed the same but different all at the same time.
âWhenâd you get this pink umbrella?â you glanced to the side door of the passenger seat. âGot it for ya,â he kept his eyes on the road.
His comment wasnât anything special. Heâd gotten you things all the time before. But it stuck with you.
Small gestures like this became a routine with Gojo, something you now looked forward to. You felt yourself easing into comfort in his presence. The past rigidity you felt melting away as Gojo put in more and more effort.
Your dinners were less lonely than before, now consisting of talking about each otherâs days. He asked about your day with a genuine curiosity and followed up about âthat one curse that looked like elvisâ among other topics. Gojo had even managed to make you laugh multiple times per meal. And for the first time in a while, it hadnât felt forced.
But what really brought everything home was the day you came up to his office during lunch instead of eating with Shoko, bento box in hand.
âDonât forget to eat, Toru,â you placed the box on his desk.
He blinked up at you, his surprise quickly melting into a warm smile that made your heart flutter as if you were falling for him all over again.
âThank you, sweet girl.â
And to an extent, you were falling in love with him all over again.
Gojo went out of his way to be present in your life, even in the smallest moments. Every morning that he didnât have a mission, he would wake you up with plates of fluffy pancakes or scrambled eggs and your favorite tea.
But it wasnât just the gestures that made a difference. It was the small moments- the way heâd reach for your hand subconsciously, the way heâd text you during missions to check in and update you, the way heâd sit next to you in the evenings even when you were both too tired to talk.
One night, as the rain slid down the windows, he turned to you in bed. This time, he didnât hesitate. He reached out, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close. For a moment, you stiffened before melting into him, your head resting against his chest.
âYouâre warm,â you said softly. âYeah?â âI missed this,â Â you hummed against his chest. âMe too.â

Vanilla | C.M
Requested by Anon: hey dunno you take requests but since your writing is so hot , I'm willing to ask if you consider writing about roleplaying with Cillian and his wife or gf to break the dull routine they were stuck into , the way he suggested that to her being embarrassed and the sweet moments they ditch the characters in bed. He could bring his characters *cough cough * Tommy shelby. Thank you x
Synopsis: In which your boyfriend, Cillian, finds out youâve been reading erotic fiction about his character in the Peaky Blinders, Tommy Shelby. Cillian shows you how much of a great actor he is.
Warnings: Age gap, the reader is in her 20s and Cillian is in his 40s. Roleplaying, extremely rough sex, dumbification, degradation, face slapping, spitting, pussy spanking, oral sex, unprotected sex, breeding kink, and a little cnc. THIS IS KIND OF DARK SO BE WARNED. Everything is consented itâs just that... Cillianâs gonna be rough, like ROUGH
.
Cillian had been busy. He had an upcoming new season this year and his schedule was packed. You havenât spent time with him in quite some time now. He constantly apologized for not giving you enough attention and promised to make it up to you.
He decided to fulfill this promise.
Since he was the main character in his series âPeaky Blindersâ, he did have massive privilege in the production. He had never done it before since he had been such a dedicated person to work with, however, he felt like he should sacrifice his work just for you. He wanted to spend the time with you, maybe have some dinner together at a nice restaurant. Just the usual things the both of you would do. Every time he had some free time he would do some nice things for you, treat you like a princess.
He came home from work that day, he got permission to take the week off and he even got back early from set. He wanted to surprise you, he had a flower in his hands a box of your favorite soft cookies. It was all so perfect.
When he came home, he saw that the first floor was empty and there were no signs of you anywhere. He went upstairs since he reckoned you were in the bedroom, probably taking a nap or reading a book.
Cillian was so happy. He was a man who barely showed any emotions in public but with you, it was different. He had a wide smile on his face, ready to surprise you but when he opened the door, he didnât see you on the bed.
Instead, he heard the shower running and so he hummed to himself, setting the gifts down as he sat on the bed to wait for you.
As he patiently waited, he noticed your phone was still on. You were the type of person to let the screen go on forever instead of turning it off every 3 minutes like him. He glanced absentmindedly as he saw you were reading some sort of story on your phone. His actions were harmless, he just wanted to see what you were reading.
His eyes skimmed through the words as his blood runs cold.
âTommy had me bent over his desk, ass red and swollen from all the beatings. My pussy was leaking down onto the expensive wood, desperate for his cock to ram inside me.
âPlease, Mr. Shelby, I need your cock!â I plead like a good whore as he growled.
âYou are nothing but a filthy cocksleeveâ
Tommy? Shelby? His Tommy Shelby? The character that he played?
It seemed like all of the blood started circulating to his face as he flushed at the filthy thing he had just read. Y/N? His sweet Y/N was reading something like that?
Cillian couldnât believe it because someone as young and pure as he would never be this dirty. Because of their age gap, he saw her as someone that he needed to protect, shield from the rest of the goddamned world. His fragile little princess that he wouldnât dare to inflict even a slight force in fear that she might break and shatter into pieces.
The sound of the shower became silent and it interrupted his thoughts, he quickly placed her phone where it belonged as he stood up and smoothened the spot on the bed where he sat to make it seem like he just came in.
When you had walked out, it took you a moment to notice Cillian standing there with your gifts but when you did, you gave him a small scream as you ran towards him, your figure wearing nothing but a small towel.
âCillian?! Youâre back? You brought me gifts!â You exclaimed as her wet body embraced him in a hug. Cillian was somewhat still blank from what he was reading earlier.
âIf she had liked that kinda stuff so much he could push her on the bed and beat her ass right nowâ
His eyes widened at his own thoughts as he tried to push them away, âYes princess, I thought maybe I havenât been paying attention to you now have I? Iâm all yours for the week, babyâ
You pouted as you nodded at him, and then he realized how submissive-looking you were. You had always had a demeanor of what he would expect someone much younger than him to have, however, Cillian was starting to look at it in a new light.
It doesn't help the fact that he still has his Thomas Shelby haircut for the filming.
It also doesnât help she was almost naked in front of him, he hadnât fucked her in weeks. Itâs almost fitting.
Maybe doing something about it wouldnât hurt now would it?
Oh... But itâs definitely gonna hurt you...
Cillian watched closely as the girl before him admired his gifts for her in awe. His eyes became more and more lusted as he figured out a way to approach you.
âLove, can I ask you a question?â
You hummed at him innocently as she raised her brows at him, âAnything, Cill...â
âWhat have you been reading on your phone, hmm?â Her eyes widened slightly as her heart started to pound in her chest. Cillian was looking at her so intensely that it was slightly scary. She didnât know if she should lie, or if she should tell him the truth. However, since he had asked... It was obvious he knew the truth.
âCillian I can explainâ You sputtered, panicking on the inside as Cillian started closing whatever gap that both of you had, he was looking down on you in a way he had never done before. You felt the chill run down your spine as you felt the back of your knees hitting the bed.
âExplainâ He commanded.
âItâs just... You know I love you and you know I should be honest to you no matter what. But... I just... We havenât been together in a long time lately and even when we do... Itâs always the same...â You felt guilty saying this to him, itâs not like he was bad at sex. He was great. However, you were getting bored with the same soft and loving sex you two always had. âI just... I hope you can be a little rougher, thatâs all. Youâve always been... So softâ
âSoft... Hm?â He tilted his head to the side as he stared at you almost mockingly, âBe careful of what you wish for, loveâ
You had felt your heart stop when Cillianâs smooth Irish accent suddenly turned into the dark Brummie accent you had always heard about on the TV. The one you had always touched yourself to when he wasnât around.
Then out of nowhere, Cillian had roughly pushed you on the bed as you fell down and whimpered softly. He pulled off the towel on your body as you were left naked, âC-Cillian!â
âWho the fuck is Cillian, eh? Have you been fucking whoring yourself out to another man?â Cillian cursed at you as he quickly took his clothes off, âYouâre my whore. Youâre mine to fuck, you got it?â
Then you can physically feel your gears shifting in your brain, âT-Tommy?â
Your body shivered as you felt yourself getting wet, you were all naked and you were ready for him. You felt your legs spread instinctively as you heard him laugh, âYou really are such a desperate fucking cunt, eh?â
âTommyâ had bent down as he gripped your face by the cheeks and roughly shook your head, âWho do you belong to? Who do you fucking belong to?â
âY-You Cill-Tommy! I belong to you!â Tommy smirked, as his hands traveled down to your navel, teasing you as he drew figures on the skin, making you whine, âOpen your fucking mouth you dirty whoreâ
You wasted no time opening your mouth for him, wide with your tongue out. Suddenly, he did the unexpected when he spat in your mouth, âFucking swallow it, princessâ
You swallowed his spit like a good girl as you held out your tongue to show to him, suddenly seeking his praise and validation however it never came. Tommy just hummed as he let go of your face harshly, almost slamming your head onto the plush bedding.
Characters aside, Cillian was never like this. Throughout the year of your relationship, he had always been gentle and kind, treating you like a soft feather and taking care of you. Maybe because it was because he was much older he had felt like he needed to treat you gently. You never realized Cillian had this side to him. He had always had this side, you just never awaken it.
âSpread your legs widerâ He commanded, his voice dark as his character, you listened to him, eager to show him you were his good girl as he hummed looking down at the glistening flesh in between your legs. You were so wet it had dripped down and leaked onto the bedsheet. Without a warning, Tommy gives a hard slap to your cunt and you screamed out. You thought he was doing it once but it seems like it came over and over again, beating your swollen pussy and clit until it was throbbing and red. You cried out of pleasure and pain, as you begged him. You didnât know what you were begging for but it was sure not for him to stop.
âYou fucking like this donât you? Fucking hell, look at you. Youâre fucking wet, you like getting fucking beaten and bruised huh? What a fucking whore. You are nothing. You are only good for fucking, you are only here to fuck. Remember that, you fucking cuntâ
Tears were flowing down and you were desperate you were so desperate for his cock. After each word, Tommy spat on your body, leaving you all wet and filthy combined with your own sweat and arousal.
âP-Please! P-Please, fuck me, Tommy! Please I need your cock. Please I want your cum. I need it inside me!â You pleaded like a whore as he slapped your face. You moaned out as his hand traveled down your neck and choked it just enough to make you feel the air around you restricting. âTommy, I canât, I need your cockâ
He scoffed, pulling down his pants as whipped out his cock. It was so hard to the point where it became purplish-red, the veins covering the base as the head leaked with pre-cum.
âYou want my cock?â He lined up his tip on your vagina, âYou fucking get it you cocksleeveâ
Without giving you a warning and time to adjust, Tommy slammed his cock inside your cunt and he wasted no time ramming into you roughly. Not like you needed time to adjust since you were sopping wet. All you can do is choke out his name and moans as he grunts with each slam.
His pace was rough and deep and for someone like hin with his age, he had the stamina to go on and on fucking you so rough till you can feel him ramming in your stomach.
No words could even cum out of your mouth as your eyes rolled back as he fucks you braindead.
Spit drooling at the side of your mouth as you babble like a cock hungry whore underneath him.
âIâm gonna fucking cum and youâre gonna take it. Youâre gonna fucking carry my babies, and even then it is not gonna stop me from fucking you stupidâ
You could feel him twitching as his thrusts were getting sloppier and sloppier, you could also feel your orgasm coiling in your tummy as you cried out once you let it all go, the liquid splashing all over the both of you as you squirt on his dick.
You were heavily overstimulated and you screamed as Tommy fucked the cum out of him.
The warm seed spilled inside your walls as he grunted in pleasure, leaning down as he bit your neck and drew blood to the surface.
Tommy looked at you all fucked out, eyes still rolling at the back of your head as you continue to babble nonsense to nothing.
He breathes heavily as he lays down beside you, carefully moving your body to cuddle up to him.
âLike I said, my love... Be careful of what you wished forâ

Yandere bruce wayne with neglected!daughter reader
Seen a bunch of neglected reader fics recently but I haven't seen one of a Reader who slowly starts to take advantage of the situation and uses batfam for their money and connections so here's this! This only focuses on Bruce for now but if anyone is interested I'd be willing to do some for the other batfam members + hcs for when/if they snap and kidnap the reader.Â
Was suppoused to headcanons but ended up more as long rambles than anything lol mainly set up for later posts detailing the situation
Pt1 it got too long, word count ; 2461
Unedited
___
Bruce is absolutely the most susceptible to this behavior, he feels the most guilt about the situation (as he should for being a neglectful father) and he is not going to lie to himself to try and save face and make himself feel better and if he does it's only for a short while before reality slaps him in the face and he has to see the truth. The truth is that there is no one to blame but himself.
When he first noticed your disappearance it had happened slowly⊠entirely too slow when he really took the time to think about it. You had been gone for a full year and he hadn't even noticed? Were you even old enough to be on your own like that? Something he felt ashamed that he even had to ask. When Alfred informs him that you're nineteen just this month he's shocked not only that you're an adult and that he didn't even realize your birthday had passed but that he couldn't even remember your face. He searches his memories for your Visage but all that he can recall is murky; he can't even remember the correct shade of your eyes or your hair and it startles him how long has it been since he took the time to properly look at you?Â
It takes some time but eventually he remembers your face with sudden clarity, he hadn't seen it in a while and the only image he could conjure up was when he first saw you, a small helpless looking child left on his doorstep by commissioner Gordon. your eyes held the same dull glassy look that his did the night his parents died, you had lost your mom in a similar vein he felt he could relate to at the time. he remembered seeing you and feeling sad for you but not in the way a father does for his child the way he felt was the same way he felt as Batman seeing victims in Gotham streets you didn't deserve this life but you weren't anyone close to him.Â
His chest aches and he remembers the way you'd clung to him your first week in the manor and then the way you wilted when he shut that down, it wasn't like he was trying to hurt you but he couldn't have you following him around everywhere especially not when gothams crime was getting out of hand even with the other members picking up his slack. So he reprimanded you, way too harshly now that he looks back on it he knows he only meant to keep you from discovering his secret but he could have worded it better instead he made it sound like you were a burden. Maybe you were to him at the time he thinks and is disgusted with himself for even letting the thought cross his head.Â
He reads your diary page after page until he reads through the whole thing. The first few pages are hopeful but solemn detailing how much you missed your mother but you're glad that you have a whole new family and you hope that they will like you, it's heartbreaking to read that kind of childish hope turn into sadness and then hate. You detailed how no one would make time for you that you'd tried everything to get their attention but you'd get blown off by each one it turns into rants about you asking what was wrong with you and why no one ever spent any time with you the writing was scribbled on so he knows you did it in a hurry just to vent out your frustration. The part that hurt most were the pages about him, you had nothing good to say about him in fact in one of the pages you had written that you didn't have much to say about him at all that you hardly knew him and barely saw him once a month and couldn't even call him your father.Â
Surely that couldn't be true right? He's not the best father figure by far but he always tried to make time for dick, Tim, Jason, Steph, Damian and Cass ... .surely he did for you.Â
He tries to find memories of him being a good father or at least trying to be any kind of father figure to you at all but he can't he can only see the times he rejected your pleas to spend time with you for things he deemed more important than you he sees it clearly each time he rejected you how you got sadder and sadder how you seemed to wilt at each and every rejection until you stopped asking.Â
he tries to tell himself that he did it for your protection that he just didn't want to get you involved in the crime fighting scene and since gothams streets were never without crime he spent an exorbitant amount of his time as Batman down in the batcave or out fighting crime with his other children and that's why he couldn't spend time with you. And that's why he seemingly had so many memories with them in the recent years; hell even in the recent weeks he has more memories with dick and the others than he ever had made with you. he tries to use it as an excuse to mask the truth; that you didn't matter in the grand scheme of his life, at least not then but he's going to do everything to make this right.
You'll be surprised to suddenly get a ton of texts from an unknown number even more so when you find out it's from bruce. Suddenly he's asking you how you've been, how was the move, are you in college right now, what major did you take? Obviously you're taken aback when the man who acted like you didn't exist suddenly wants to know everything about you. You would think he'd needed something but you know better than that what could he possibly need with you now? You don't have any money and he wouldn't need that anyways. Maybe he's dying and needs a kidney or somethingâŠwhatever you don't care that man can rot.Â
You leave his messages on read of course, because you don't owe him a response and well maybe to be a bit petty and give him a taste of his own medicine. You don't know how bitter the taste is in Bruce's mouth, he knows you've seen them so why won't you respond? Bruce usually isn't a multi texter but he'll send more and more trying to get any kind of response out of you, he's constantly checking his phone hoping to see three little dots appear and he's noticeably slightly more angsty when out patrolling with the others.Â
The texts were annoying but you could mute his notifications and after the first few weeks you basically forgot about the texts going about your normal life until he started calling. It seemed like he was always calling Day in day out, you blocked his number because of how annoying it was but he always just gets a new one leaving the same text â hey your name its dadâ and then the calling would resume.Â
One day you pick up and Bruce sounds so relieved when he says your name into the receiver you figure he might really need that kidney if he sounds this excited to see you.
When you answer back he knows you aren't excited in fact you sound completely disinterested in him which takes him by surprise, isn't this what you wanted? What you cried for in your diary begging God that your father would notice you. You're older now so maybe you just aren't looking for that kind of attention anymore, the thought haunts him the idea that he could never truly make it up to you still he pushes through his voice sounding nervous as he starts to tentatively ask about your day. You cut him off with a scoff after some terse conversation telling him to just get to the point already and stop wasting your time.Â
The silence is deafening and you almost hang up before he croaks out a response âsorry name, I just wanted to know what you were up to I know we uh.. haven't talked in awhile I just wanted to hear from you and know that everything was alrightâ could this really be your father? He sounds so pathetic to you at that very moment, nothing like the confident man you saw on television often nor the man you saw taking care of everyone but you.Â
And no nothing was alright you were working a job you hated in some shitty little apartment in Gotham that you had to fear if it would get broken into or not because the damn landlord wouldn't change the faulty locks a rage takes you and you just let it all fall out cursing him for your shitty life and the shitty apartment and for being a shitty father letting all that rage out until you're left heaving. its silent after your outburst you think he might have hung up but after a moment he offers to pay for a new place and offers to pay your current rent until you can break the lease and that he will take care of you and not to worry about anything financial telling you to quit your job and to send him your bank so he can get things sorted out. Â
At first you wanted to vehemently deny this, wanting to prove to yourself that you didn't need him or his help but something In the back of your head tells you to accept it, that if he expects anything back for it then that's his fault for assuming. So you tell him and soon there's a large sum of money in your account more than you have ever had in there. For once you can actually afford to treat yourself instead of eating shitty microwaved ramen, and so you dine out in a nice reasonably expensive restaurant with your friends and you enjoy yourself.Â
A week passes in silence and then he's sending you pictures of luxury apartments telling you to pick out any one you want and that he'll get everything settled and you almost can't believe this. Would he actually pay for something so outrageously expensive? You almost doubt it but once your lease is up Bruce is at your door helping you move out any furniture you wanted to keep which was almost nothing seeing as everything was already worn out anyways.Â
You didn't say much to him and he seemed to realize you were in no talking mood so he allowed you to be quiet and told you about himself instead talking about the boys and what he'd been working on recently, it feels like what he should've been for you years ago an interaction you'd have killed for when you were fourteen and it just pisses you off so you turn on the radio instead to drown out his words. You don't care how he's doing, you don't want to hear about dick or damian, you're only accepting his help because you're tired of living in that shitty apartment. The ride is otherwise silent except for the annoyingly upbeat pop music which would probably make Damian or Jason have an aneurysm if they had to listen to it.Â
The goodbye is awkward. You can tell Bruce wants to come inside and talk more but you thank him for helping you move in the furniture and shut the door.Â
He buys you new furniture without you asking and sends it in by the second week you're in the apartment. You don't realize that he stalks your posts and that he saw one of you complaining about the lack of good furniture.
Life has never been better for you, you live in luxury and can go on shopping sprees literally whenever you want and Bruce sends you a random stream of cash whenever you start to get low and you're definitely not going to look a gift horse in the mouth not when you enjoy every luxury you are afforded.Â
Life is good until a certain black haired prick starts inserting himself into your life and this time it isn't bruce, nope it just had to be your annoyingly bubbly, touchy, and all too friendly âstepbrotherâ dick grayson.
___
So yeah all in all Bruce has the capability to recognize your strained relationship is all his fault and that he never should have ignored you and how selfish he was to put his duties as Batman above his duties as a father to you. He realized he didn't even try to balance the two.Â
And Despite himself he ended up hurting you and neglecting you so he feels he owes it to you to make things right even if 'making things right' entails him buying you a luxury apartment or purchasing the latest phone or new car. The best part is that Bruce will not demand time from you (yet) because of his guilt. He simply suggests that maybe you should come out with him saying that he planned a whole day for the two of you but the ball is in your court since whether or not you ever accept his invites he will continue to be your cash cow to absolve himself of his guilt.Â
It's fun because now you get to watch him wilt everytime you reject his attempts at reconnecting, you get to have your petty revenge watching as a part of him dies inside each and every time you ignore the conversations he tries to start when pulling money out of the bank, you get to watch how he seems to lose all of his luster when you leave once the cash is in your hands without so much as a thanks. Bruce isn't stupid he knows this dynamic is unhealthy and recognizes it for what it is but this is the only way he can get you to talk to him or to even look in his direction. He has his limits though eventually you will talk to him whether you want to or notÂ

Malleus copes with you leaving.
Malleus knows this is best for you.
It was your decision to make and yours alone. Lilia sat him down and thoroughly lectured him on it. He couldn't hold you back from happiness. Yet the heartache he felt only grew.
What was the point of all the late nights spent with you? The secrets whispered in the winds? The kisses shared past midnight?
Why would you provide him with such memories only to leave?
The second you stepped through that mirror, disappearing from his sight, Malleus felt sick. His whole world had been changed. He foolishly placed all his love and more onto you. Now that youâre gone, heâs directionless.
Malleus feels Lilia pat him on the shoulder. His voice isn't as playful as it usually is but still carries a chipper tone. âYouâve got centuries to find another!⊠Learn to let go.â
Let go?
Was this how relationships worked? You put in your all just to inevitably let go? How cruel.
He secluded himself from all of Diasomnia for a week, including his bodyguards and Lilia.
Malleus felt your absence everywhere. The starry nights are more silent than ever. Ramshackle reverted to an old, dusty dorm. He wonders what happened to your cat companion once you left.
The Gargoyle Research Club is canceled until further notice. Not that anyone else attended. Without your smile to invade the room, Malleus felt no desire to ramble about the complex history of his favorite subject.
Everything felt dull. And he despised it.
One night, he made his way into the abandoned dorm of Ramshackle.
He found your old room, your old mirror. Malleus thinks heâs going crazy. He swears he saw your reflection in the dinky glass.
It's amusing in a way. How one human had impacted his life so much.
Malleus wonders how youâre doing without him. Is it better? Living in a world where you could never see his face again?
He remembers you talking to him about your real family, reminiscing on bad and good memories. That was the first time he felt compelled to hold you. To comfort you. To make all the pain go away.
He would've never guessed you would soon be the source of his pain.
Malleus resents how easy it was to lose you; how easy it was for you to let him go. But another, louder part of himself knows that he could never hate you. When you left, you took a part of him permanently.
He longs to see you again.
For you to prance by his side at his club. For you to text him silly messages throughout the day on his tiny device. For you to come to him asking for help in finding Grim.
Malleus is unbearably lonely without you.
Then he hears a thud. It seems as though the wind had knocked an item in your room over. A journal. Malleus canât help but observe the little notebook.
Your name was written on the cover. He immediately opens to page one.
The date at the top was the exact day he remembers first meeting you. You write about a handsome stranger you met at night. Based on your words, you felt as though you had intruded on his space.
Malleus soon finds himself spiraling, reading page after page of you describing your time at NRC; the people you met, the memories you created, and the fae you fell in love with.
He feels a surge of disappointment as he quickly reads through it all, soon reaching the end. His eyes widen as he turns to the last page. A mere two sentences were written in ink.
âYouâll always be my love. Even if weâre dimensions apart, Tsunotaro.â
Malleusâs grip on the leather cover tightened. You knew heâd find this. Heâs partly amused. You are always full of surprises.
He rips out that last page addressed to him, letting the notebook fall to the floor as he does.
Malleus transforms the torn paper into a delicate, green rose. That flower will now always hold a piece of his magic.
The fae places it in front of the mirror in which he stares at his reflection.
~
âI, Malleus Draconia, vow to never love another like I did you, my dearest child of man.â

caught in the undertow
ă AO3 Link (full tag list) || masterlist ă ⊠John Price x Reader ⊠John made the right call that day. It could have cost you your life, but it saved a dozen others - innocent men, women and children. He made the right decision. âŠdid he? ⊠7k words ⊠tags/cw: injury, angst, feels, medical and military inaccuracies, guilt, trauma/ptsd, piv sex, âŠdid i mention angst?
âCaptain Price,â Kate Laswell stated in her usual cool, precise and professional manner. She was called forward to speak last, and the room seemed to hold its breath as she spoke. âUndoubtedly saved multiple lives. I was in communication with him the entire time, and the situation was dire. The moment the Sergeant moved to shield the mother and her child, the hostile shifted, presenting immediate danger and forced Captain Price to take the shot. His team's confirmations came almost immediately. Threat neutralized, Sergeant down, requesting immediate medevac. The sequence of events is clear. The timings, irrefutable. It was the only choice to prevent a larger loss of life.â
She paused, allowing her words to settle, her gaze sweeping across the jury, then to John. And finally, her eyes met yours, a flicker of empathy, a shared understanding of the burden of impossible choices, passing between you.
When you took your seat in the witness stand what felt like hours before, the air in the courtroom was thick, feeling more suffocating than the humid summer air outside. You felt the seams of your dress digging into your skin like a thousand tiny needles, the fabric clinging to your body like a second skin. The injury hidden beneath that fabric pulsed with a dull ache, a rhythm that echoed the beat of your heart, a constant reminder of why you were there in the first place.
Across from you, John shifted in his seat. Captain John Price. Your Captain. Your leader. The love of your life. Accused and tried for the choice he made that day. He held his composure with the effortless grace of a man whoâd stared down far worse fates than a panel of judges, his gaze fixed on some point beyond the courtroom walls, as if searching for an escape. But you, who knew him better than anyone, saw the subtle signs of the storm raging beneath â the tension in his jaw and the way his fingers tapped a restless rhythm against the table.
It had been weeks since the operation, since the bullet meant for a terrorist found its path through your shoulder, but the memory was still vivid, a cruel film reel playing on a loop in his mind.
The mission had been textbook, up until the point it wasnât. The intel, as so often happened in this line of work, had unraveled, leaving you and Gaz staring down the barrel of a hostage situation gone sideways. A dozen innocent lives held captive by a man desperate for freedom, his finger itching on the trigger of his AK. A man whose eyes held the cold glint of a cornered animal, ready to unleash a violence that could silence a room within seconds.
You aimed at him, your finger tightening on the trigger of your own weapon, but you couldn't fire.
A mother and her child were singled out from the rest of the group of hostages. He used them as leverage, as a shield, their bodies a barrier that prevented both you and Gaz from taking the shot. And then, without thinking, without hesitation, you moved. Instinct and years of training taking over, your body reacting before your mind could even process the risk, you stepped forward, ushering the mother and child behind you, shielding them with your own flesh and bone.
Youâd made a choice.
And just as you made that conscious choice that second, so had John. It all happened in a blink of an eye. The radio comms were a mess, you heard your name, a strangled cry from John booming in your ear as he yelled for you to stand down, a mixture of desperate shouts that nobody had a clear shot â and then the unmistakable twitch of the finger on the enemy's AK â
The prosecutor, a man whose weapon was his voice, spoke up, his words cutting through the tense silence, slicing through your thoughts. âCaptain Jonathan Price,â he began, walking slowly towards where John was sitting, âLetâs revisit the moments that led up to the point where you decided to fire upon the hostile. Was there any point during the hostage negotiation that didnât involve engaging an armed man directly?â
Johnâs gaze shifted to the man standing before him, the predator circling its prey, seeking a weakness, an admission of guilt, that would seal his fate. âThe situation was volatile,â he stated, his voice low, controlled. âThe suspect had already demonstrated he was willing to use lethal force.â
âYes, indeed,â the prosecutor agreed, his tone laced with a false sympathy that made your stomach churn. âOne civilian had been shot, tragically. But tell me, Captain, were the remaining hostages in imminent danger at the precise moment you fired your â â He paused, his gaze dropping to his notes, then snapping back to John. â...sniper rifle, an MCPR-300, I believe? With a compromised line of sight? Donât you think that was reckless? Negligent, even?â
John didnât answer at first, his eyes focused back onto a distant horizon beyond the room. He was taken back to that warehouse, the scene he had witnessed through his scope, the twitch of the finger of the man who was about to decide about the fate of innocent people, who was about to punish you for stepping in front of his only leverage, who â
âCaptain,â the prosecutor repeated, âperhaps you havenât been paying attention. I asked you a question.â
John took a slow, steadying breath, forcing himself to surface. âI heard the question," he said finally, his voice low and dangerous, almost sounding like a threat. âThere wasnât a second to spare. I had to take the shot. The second those hostages were moved, the hostile was enraged. He was about to shoot them all, and the Sergeant stepped into my line of fire. I knew that the shot wasnât impossible. It was flesh and bone, no vital organ. I had to⊠I had to risk it.â
âSo you risked the life of one of your own?â The prosecutor's voice dripped with disdain, a subtle emphasis on the word risked that twisted like a knife in John's gut.
âIt was that,â John stated, his tone flat, devoid of emotion, a soldier reciting a mission report, the only way he knew how to survive this interrogation. âOr a far worse outcome. I made the choice that saved the most lives. It was the only choice.â
He refused to look at you, couldn't bear the sight of your bandaged shoulder, the visible reminder of his decision, his guilt. His gaze remained fixed on the far wall, as if he could will away the memories that haunted him.
The prosecutor, frustrated by John's stoicism, turned his attention to you.
âSergeant,â he said, his voice taking on a deceptive gentleness designed to lull you into a false sense of security, to draw out the accusation he so desperately sought. âPerhaps you can help us understand what happened that day. Can you walk us through the events leading up to⊠the incident? In your own words.â
âOf course.â You stood, your back straight, your gaze meeting the prosecutorâs, your injured arm held slightly stiffly at your side â a consistent, throbbing reminder of the choice, the bullet, your pain.
You described how you and Gaz had entered the warehouse in hopes to clear the situation, how Price was in communication with Laswell about this unexpected turn of events, watching every movement through his scope; how Soap and Ghost were circling the perimeter outside to find any possible way to secure the situation from a different angle. You described the hostages huddled to the side of the room, their faces full of terror. You told them about the mother and her child, no more than five years old, singled out, terrorized by a man with nothing left to lose.
âTell us,â the prosecutor interrupted, sharp and accusing, âwhy didnât you fire on the man? You were closer. Why did you rely on someone outside to have a clear shot? Were you not confident in your own abilities, Sergeant?"
âBecause, like I said, there was a mother and her child right in front of him,â you repeated, âand I knew he was going to shoot at them if one of us just lifted a finger.â
âBut surely, a trained soldier -â The prosecutor began, his voice dripping with disdain, but you cut him off.
âThere wasn't time, sir,â you shot back, âI didn't have time to think, to calculate, to consider my options. I acted on instinct. I reacted. And I did what I had to do to protect those innocent lives. Captain Price knew that, and he acted accordingly.â
âAnd by doing so,â the prosecutor pressed, âyou put yourself directly in the path of Captain Priceâs bullet. A bullet fired from a high-powered sniper rifle. A weapon designed to kill.â
You met his gaze, your jaw tightening. âYes, sir,â you stated. âBut if I hadnât moved, that mother and child would be dead.â
You described the way youâd ushered the hostages behind you, ignoring John's desperate pleas for you to get down, knowing you had only seconds, maybe less, to act. âHis finger was already on the trigger,â you continued. âHe was unhinged. He wouldn't have hesitated. I did what I had to do.â
You looked at John, your heart twisting as you saw the agony in his eyes, the guilt he carried, the self-loathing that radiated off him in waves.
âAnd then?â the prosecutor pressed, his voice sharp, intent on dissecting this moment, this choice, until heâd found the weakness, the fault, that would bring John Price down.
âAnd then, everything happened very quickly. I saw the gunman fall, his weapon clattering to the floor.â You swallowed hard, forcing the memory down, the sight of the blood, his blood and yours, mingling on the concrete floor. âThen the pain hit. I fell⊠and then⊠everything went black.â
Johnâs shot, impossibly precise, impossibly fast, had found its mark, silencing a threat before it could unleash hell.Â
âCaptain Priceâs shot,â you continued, âsaved lives that day. He stopped a terrorist before he could execute any of those innocent men, women, and children. Before he could shoot Sergeant Garrick or me. It was the only shot, and it was the right choice.â
One by one, Gaz, Soap, and Ghost were questioned, their testimonies echoing your account â a chaotic situation, a volatile enemy, a split-second judgment call that had saved lives.Â
Laswellâs testimony was calm, factual, and her words were carefully chosen. She offered no justification, no defense, only the cold, hard facts that painted a clear picture â there had been no other option, no other choice.
But his teamâs words, their support, did nothing to soothe the guilt that burned in Johnâs gut.Â
Heâd fired the shot. Heâd made the choice. And you, the woman he loved, the soldier whoâd placed her life in his hands, carried the scar, the physical reminder, of that impossible decision.
Not guilty on all charges.Â
John shook his lawyerâs hand, accepting congratulations with a curt nod, his gaze distant, his thoughts a million miles away. And as you watched him walk out of the courtroom, his shoulders hunched, his steps heavy, you knew, that the real battle had just begun.
The weeks that followed were punctuated by doctorâs visits, physical therapy, and the slow, agonizing process of reclaiming the strength and mobility youâd temporarily lost. Soap, Gaz, and even Ghost, took turns checking in, bringing you takeout, offering their clumsy attempts at comfort and companionship. It felt like you saw more of them during those weeks of recovery than you did John.Â
But he was meticulous about your care, driven by a desperate need to somehow atone, to mend the damage heâd caused. He drove you to every doctorâs appointment, sat silently beside you in the waiting rooms. He made sure you had the best doctors, the best physical therapy. Youâd find fresh ice packs in the freezer, pain medication neatly arranged on the kitchen counter, a schedule for your meds taped to the fridge with military precision.
He brought home flowers, he found that rare book youâd mentioned, the one you thought was lost forever, and placed it on your bedside table. A desperate attempt to bring back a sliver of the normalcy youâd lost.
He'd do it all to soothe his mind, to right the wrongs just a little bit. But it didn't help.
Just like that verdict hadnât brought him any solace. He was a prisoner of his own self, the bars constructed from the barbed wire of guilt and self-accusation. Heâd fired the bullet. With the knowledge that it would tear through your flesh, hurt you, make you bleed âÂ
Not guilty.
The words churned in his mind like a dark undercurrent, dragging him down, down, down into the depths of his self-inflicted torment. They echoed through the empty spaces of his days, a mocking chorus that followed him everywhere, laughing at him from the shadows.
Not guilty.
As the image of you being rushed into surgery repeated in his mind. His heart beating a million times a minute, replaying how your eyes rolled back into your head from the pain as soon as the adrenaline faded, how he had begged Laswell to send medical faster, how he watched his team tend to you because he was frozen in place, letting realization hit him of what he had just done with the force of a tidal wave.
Not guilty.
As he remembered pacing the waiting room like a caged animal, every thought about you a self-inflicting wound to his soul, every passing second an eternity. He saw your face everywhere, in the worried expressions of his team, on Laswell, as she relayed the surgeonâs updates on your condition. âIt was a clean shot, John. Just like you knew it was. She will be okay.â But even those words â words of reassurance, of hope â couldnât calm the storm raging within him, couldnât drown out the relentless echo of that damning verdict.
Not guilty.
One centimeter. The surgeon talked to John personally, and it felt like a cruel joke when he praised the precision of the shot â painting him as the incredible soldier whoâd done the unthinkable, the hero who saved the day â one fucking centimeter. A haunting reminder of your fragility, just how close heâd missed the subclavian artery, walking a thin line between duty and devastation, between love and loss.
Not guilty.
As he threw himself into his work, disappearing to the base for days, trying to outrun his own mind by getting lost in familiar routines â trainings, missions, briefings â a desperate attempt to swim against the current of guilt, but it was relentless, pulling him back into the depths of despair over and over again.Â
Heâd stand in the training room, the heavy bag swaying before him, a silent opponent that couldn't judge him, couldn't accuse him. Heâd pummel it, again and again, the satisfying thud of leather against his knuckles a fleeting release.
Not guilty.
As he felt the sting of his knuckles split open, the blood a welcome distraction, a pain that grounded him in the present, momentarily pushing back the memories. He didn't stop, didn't flinch. He just kept hitting the bag, the rhythm of his blows a mantra, a futile attempt to atone for a sin he couldnât wash away.
Not guilty.
As even his sleep was haunted by the echoes of that day. It was always the same - the screams of the hostages, the metallic clang of the terrorist's weapon hitting the concrete floor, your muffled gasps as the bullet ripped through you. Heâd wake in a cold sweat, his sheets tangled, his heart hammering against his ribs.
He had to relive the moment over and over - his love for you against the lives of those hostages - the terror that seized him as his finger squeezed the trigger, the sickening thud of the bullet finding its mark, the knowledge that it was his skill, his precision, that had brought you so close to death.
Not guilty.
Could he have waited another second for a clear shot?Â
No. He remembered it all too vividly; the frantic whispers in his earpiece -Â
No clear shot, Captain.Â
Civilians blocking the path.Â
Heâs moving. Heâs gonna shoot.
The terroristâs finger tightening on the trigger, the manic gleam in his eye. He was a cornered animal, desperate, ready to take everyone down with him.
The way you had moved, instinctively, selflessly, pushing the woman and child behind you, placing yourself in the path of the bullet he was about to unleash.
Heâd made the only call he could, he knew that. But logic didnât seem to matter against the gnawing guilt that had become his constant companion. The weight of it, the burden of that impossible choice, had him retreating further into himself, desperately seeking refuge from the truth he couldn't escape â heâd chosen to save those lives, and in doing so, had almost sacrificed yours.
Not guilty.
As heâd scrub his hands raw, the water running red in his mind, as if trying to wash away the phantom stain of your blood. He couldnât bear to look at himself in the mirror, his reflection - the hard lines of his face, the haunted eyes - a constant accusation.
Not guilty.
As heâd walk through the door, late and weary, the aroma of his favorite meal would hit him, the familiar scent a painful reminder of the normalcy he craved, the domesticity he felt he no longer deserved. Heâd find a bottle of his favorite whiskey already poured, two glasses waiting on the table, and you, in that soft, worn sweater he loved, would greet him with a smile that made his heart ache with a love he felt was both undeserved and unbearable.
Not guilty.
As he watched the aftermath of his choice everywhere. The way you winced when you tried to do mundane everyday tasks, reaching for the coffee on the cupboard, brushing your hair, finding a comfortable position to sleep. A reminder, constant and always present, of his choice, his bullet.Â
And yet, when you caught him looking at you, youâd still offer him the brightest and reassuring smile. You smiled at him. You seemed to be so full of life, so full of love â something he felt he could no longer accept after what he had done.Â
Not guilty.
It kept mocking him, over and over and over again â and the amber liquid in his glass did nothing to drown the demons that were laughing at him, their voices echoing the verdict, the words that condemned him more surely than any court of law ever could.
âCanât sleep?â Youâd ask, your voice soft and sleepy, as you approached him standing by the moonlit window, your hand reaching out to rest on his arm.
Heâd flinch away from your touch, the reaction so instinctive, so painful, that it felt like a knife stabbed right through your heart.
âNo.â His answer was short, clipped, and was followed by a silence that felt deafening, pushing the chasm that had been broken open between you even further.Â
âTalk to me, John.â Your voice trembled, a mixture of frustration and sadness, a desperate plea for the man you loved to emerge from the shadows of his own making. Youâd let him have his space, but you felt like you were losing him. You respected he would need time, but it was increasingly frightening to see him retreat further and further into this self-imposed exile.
âThereâs nothing to say.â He set the glass down, the crystal clinking against the wood, a sharp sound in the stillness of the room. He turned to walk away, as if your presence was a physical burden.
You knew what he did wasnât a rejection, but a shield, a desperate attempt to protect you from the shattered pieces of himself. He thought he was sparing you, keeping you from the darkness that threatened to drown him.
You longed for his touch, for the familiar comfort of his embrace, for the warmth of his laughter, the way heâd make you forget the world with a single glance. You longed for the man who laughed with his men, who stole kisses in the dead of night, whose touch had once been your sanctuary.
One evening, you stood in the bathroom to take a shower, as you desperately tried to reach for the clasp of your strapless bra. You hated that thing already, but you didn't have a choice, as straps would hurt your shoulder.
You couldnât reach around, your shoulder throbbing with each awkward movement. The frustration of this simple task, the feeling of helplessness, amplified the deeper ache in your heart, the loneliness that had become your constant companion. You had enough.
âJohn!â It was both a cry for help as it was a plea for reconnection.
He was by your side in an instant, crossing your shared space to the bathroom in three quick strides, alert by the sound of your voice. âWhat is it? Whatâs wrong?â The urgency in his voice, the raw concern he couldnât mask, a contrast to the coldness that had settled between you in the weeks since the trial, and it had tears flowing freely down your cheeks now.
The sight of you, usually so strong, so capable, brought low by something as simple as a stubborn clasp, tore through his gut like a burning blade.
He'd put that look on your face.
He did.Â
âThis damned thingâŠâ you gestured to the bra clasp, your throat constricting as the emotions that had been suppressed for so long threatened to finally spill over.Â
He didnât hesitate. âLet me.â He said, moving behind you, his touch gentle as he brushed your hair aside and his fingers undid the clasp. Something he had done a million times before, but not with a touch that felt like you were made out of porcelain, about to shatter under the weight of his guilt.
âThe doctor said I can change the bandages myself now,â you said, your voice soft, hesitant, âCan you⊠can you help me?â
He turned away, retrieving the first aid kit from the bathroom cabinet, his movements stiff, controlled, a familiar mask slipping back into place. But as you watched him lay out the gauze, the antiseptic, the scissors, you saw the slight tremor in his hands, the way his jaw clenched.
You knew, he was afraid of you. Or rather, he was afraid of himself, afraid of the damage heâd inflicted, the hurt heâd caused. He was afraid of hurting you again.
âTurn around, love,â he murmured, his voice husky, a rough caress against your ear. âMay I?â
âYou know you may.â
You turned, and you could feel the heat of his gaze, which burned into your back as if he could see right through you. You could feel the tension in him, the way he held his breath, as his fingers brushed against your skin, gently peeling away the old bandage.
Then you heard him inhale sharply, a sound that spoke volumes. He'd seen the bruise.Â
âItâsâŠâ His voice hitched, the word catching in his throat, the sight of that bruise, a grotesque masterpiece of purple and yellow blooming across your shoulder blade, a brutal reminder of the force of his impact, his choice, his guilt.
You didn't need to see his face to know the expression that twisted his features. You felt it, the self-loathing, the way it had poisoned him and had turned his love into a weapon turned against himself.
You tried to meet his gaze. âIt's just a bruise, John,â you said, your voice softer now, a plea for him to see you, the woman who loved him, not the casualty he'd created in his own mind.
He worked silently to fixate the new bandage, the silence stretching between you, thick with unspoken emotions. Then he turned to leave, his hand reaching for the doorknob, but you stopped him, your hand reaching out, your fingers closing around his wrist.
âDonât,â you whispered, your voice trembling, your touch a desperate attempt to anchor him to the present, to remind him that he hadn't destroyed you, that you were still here, still his.
He looked at you, his eyes clouded with a mix of emotions you couldnât decipher - guilt, fear, longing, and a deep, abiding love that he'd tried so hard to bury. He wanted to pull away, to tell you that you deserved better, that he was no good for you, a danger, a threat.
âI shouldâŠâ he began, his voice rough with the effort of holding himself together. âI have reportsâŠâ
But you weren't letting him escape. Not this time. You stepped closer, pressing your naked body against his, ignoring the ache in your shoulder, the protest of your wounded flesh, because the ache in your heart, the yearning for his touch, was a far more powerful force.
âDonât,â you whispered, your breath warm on his skin, igniting a fire that threatened to burn away the carefully constructed walls he'd built around himself. âDon't push me away, John. Please.â
He closed his eyes for a moment, your scent filling his senses, something heâd craved, longed for, but felt he no longer had the right to claim.
âI donât ââ he started to protest, the denial on his lips, but you silenced him with a kiss, standing on your tiptoes to press your lips against his. He hesitated, a battle raging within him, then, with a groan that sounded more like surrender than anything else, he gave in. His hands, as if with a will of their own, found their way to your waist, pulling you closer, molding your curves against the hard lines of his body, seeking solace in the familiar feel of you, the warmth, the softness.
You moaned against his lips, a sound of pure need that seemed to break the last vestiges of his control. The weight of his guilt, the burden heâd carried for weeks, seemed to dissipate under the heat of your kiss, replaced by a more primal need; a raw, desperate hunger.
You pulled back just enough to catch your breath, to look into his eyes, the stormy blue depths youâd thought youâd lost forever, now blazing with a rekindled fire that sent a jolt of pure desire straight through you.
He kissed you again with a ferocity that had your knees going weak, his tongue a weapon claiming every inch of your mouth, his hands a possessive force on your hips, as if he could physically merge your bodies, your souls, erasing the distance, the doubt, that had haunted you for far too long.
He lifted you then, without breaking the kiss, carrying you towards the bedroom, your legs instinctively wrapping around his waist. He laid you down on the bed, his weight settling over you, his gaze never leaving yours as he reached behind you, tucking a pillow beneath your injured shoulder.
He loomed over you, his body a welcome weight against your own. âThis okay?â
âYes,â you breathed, your fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer, your body arching towards his, needing more, needing everything heâd held back for far too long. âGod, yes, John⊠Just⊠touch me.â
His touch was no longer hesitant, no longer laced with guilt or apprehension. This was the John you knew. His hands, large and calloused, yet infinitely gentle, roamed your body with a familiarity like it was a map he had studied for years.
âLike this?â he rasped, his fingers tracing the line of your jaw, his thumb stroking the sensitive skin beneath your ear, a spot he knew made you shiver with anticipation.
âYes!â You moaned, arching into his touch, needing more, needing all of him.
âTell me when itâs too much, yeah?âÂ
You wanted to tell him that nothing he could ever do would be too much, that the thought of him hesitating, of holding back any part of himself from you, was more unbearable than any pain he could inflict. But the words wouldnât come, caught in the swell of need that tightened your throat, that turned your insides to molten gold under his hungry gaze.
Heâd shed his clothes in a heartbeat, and then he was pushing your thighs apart. His knee settled between your legs, and the heat of him, the solid evidence of his desire, his erection standing full and proud, made you ache with a need you hadn't thought possible.
This was him, offering up his vulnerability alongside his desire, reminding himself, reminding you, that he was still the man youâd fallen in love with somewhere between the training ground and the front lines.
âJohn,â you breathed, his name escaping your lips as he positioned himself at your entrance, the tip of his cock, slick and hot against your aching core, a sensation both familiar and intensely, unbearably, arousing.
He entered you with a force that stole your breath, the feeling both familiar and overwhelming after weeks of forced abstinence.
He was fucking you. Hard, fast, with a ferocity he hadn't unleashed in weeks. Every thrust a desperate attempt to exorcise the demons that haunted him, to rewrite the narrative of his actions, to find solace, oblivion, in the heat of your body and the taste of your skin.
For a stolen moment, it almost worked. He lost himself in the feel of you, tight and hot around him; the scent of you, the taste of you on his lips, a drug that dulled the edges of his pain, offering a fleeting escape from the torment.
But the past had a way of catching up, even in this vulnerable, shared haven of yours.
You arched into him, your head thrown back against the pillows, a moan escaping your lips as he pushed deeper. Your face distorted, your features twisted in the throes of passion, and something within him snapped.
His vision blurred, the lines of your face dissolving â
Your eyes, rolled back, your brows furrowed â
From pleasure. Not pain.
Your breath hitched as he moved â as the bullet hit your shoulder.
Pleasure. Not pain.
He repeated those words over and over like a frantic litany in his mind, trying to erase the image that superimposed itself onto you â
He saw it again, your face, contorted in agony, not ecstasy, as he ran towards you in the warehouse, your body a broken doll sprawled on the blood-soaked concrete, a testament to his choice, his aim, his failure.
Pain.
The warehouse lights glared in his memory, harsh and unforgiving, reflecting off the pool of blood that seemed to expand, to swallow him whole. The metallic tang of it filled his nostrils, choking him. He felt the phantom weight of the rifle against his shoulder, heard the echo of the gunshot, the sickening thud as his bullet found its mark.
His stomach churned, the pleasure, so intense moments before, turning bitter in his mouth, a sour, acidic taste that had bile rising in his throat.
He couldnât breathe. The room seemed to spin, your body suddenly a stranger, a fragile thing he needed to put at a distance before he destroyed you all over again.
âNoâŠâ The denial escaped his lips, a strangled whisper. His body shuddered, a wave of nausea rolling over him, forcing him to pull back, breaking the contact, leaving him stranded on a shore of his own making again, the waves of his guilt crashing over him again, threatening to drag him under again.
âJohn?â You sat up, the sheet pooling around your waist, concern furrowing your brow as you watched him recoil from you, his face distorted with an anguish you couldnât decipher. You reached for him, your hand hovering hesitantly above his arm, unsure of how to navigate this sudden shift, this retreat back into the darkness he'd been fighting for weeks.
He shook his head, unable to speak, unable to face you. The shame, the self-loathing, was a physical weight that had him collapsing back onto the bed, his back to you, his body curled in on itself, seeking a refuge he knew didn't exist. It was as if he were trying to fold himself into the smallest possible space, disappear into the shadows, become as invisible as the ghosts that haunted him.
âJohn, what's wrong?â You whispered, your hand still hovering above him, wanting to touch him, to offer comfort, but afraid of intruding, of shattering the fragile shell he seemed to have retreated into.
He shook his head again, the gesture frantic, a silent denial of your offer. He couldn't look at you, couldn't bear the judgment, the accusation, he knew he deserved. The guilt, the remorse, the images that replayed in his mind â they were a relentless tide, an undertow dragging him down into a darkness he wasnât sure he could escape.
âGod, I donâtâŠâ His voice cracked, the weight of his guilt crushing him, squeezing the air from his lungs, stealing his breath. âI don't deserve you⊠I donât deserve⊠any of this.â
He finally turned to you then, and you flinched involuntarily. The pain in your shoulder was nothing compared to the agony etched on his face, the raw, unfiltered torment in his eyes, a reflection of the hell he was living in.
âI look at youâŠâ He choked out, the confession a jagged piece of shrapnel piercing his heart. âAnd all I see is... the blood. Your blood. EverywhereâŠâ He buried his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking as a sob ripped through him, the sound raw and guttural, a stark contrast to the strong soldier you'd always known, the man who had built his life on control, on burying his emotions beneath layers of duty and discipline.
This wasn't the John you knew, the man who faced every challenge head-on, who commanded a room with his presence. This was a man undone, a warrior stripped of his armor, reduced to tears by the torment of his guilt, the terror of his own actions and his love for you. Vulnerable and exposed.
And as he sat there, his body trembling, his breath coming in ragged gasps, the dam finally broke completely. He was a ship caught in a hurricane, the waves of his guilt crashing over him, the mast of his resolve snapping, the sails of his self-control ripped to shreds. His sobs, raw and guttural, filled the room, a lament that echoed the turmoil in his soul, a sound that had your heart shattering into a million pieces.
âItâs⊠itâs everywhere. On my hands... On the walls⊠In my dreams⊠God, I can't⊠I can't escape it.â
You reached out, your hand settling gently on his arm, but you didn't speak. You could offer no words, no reassurances, that could alleviate this pain. You could only offer him your presence, your touch; show him that he did still deserved you and your love.
âThose nights⊠Every time I close my eyes, it's there. The warehouse, the hostages, the look on your face, the bloodâŠâ He shuddered, his voice breaking as he continued, âIt's like⊠Iâm back there, in that moment, but this time⊠this time you donât get up.â
His gaze, filled with a desolate pain you'd never witnessed before, settled on the bandage on your shoulder.
âOne centimeter,â he whispered then, âone fucking centimeter... and it was my choice, my bullet⊠â He trailed off, the realization of it all, the weight of his actions, crashing over him all over again. âGod, Iâve seen men die⊠good men, the best⊠I've held them as they bled out, watched the light fade from their eyes⊠But thisâŠâ He shook his head, the words choking him. âThis is different. I⊠I can'tâŠâ
He shifted slightly, his gaze still settled on your shoulder. âYouâve been injured before,â he choked out, âhell, I've been shot, stabbed, blown upâŠâ He laughed, a harsh, brittle sound â heâd survived a hundred battles, a thousand close calls, only to be brought down by his own hand, his own love. âBut this⊠this time, it was me. I was the one whoâŠâÂ
He couldn't finish the sentence, the words dissolving into another sob that racked his body. He pressed his palms against his eyes, as if he could physically erase the images that haunted him, but the memories were too vivid, too deeply ingrained - your startled gasp, the sickening thud of the bullet, the blood, your blood, blossoming against your skin. He saw it everywhere: on his hands, on his uniform, on the sheets of your shared bed. A stain he couldn't wash away, a mark of Cain branded onto his soul.
âIâm a monster,â he choked out, the words a strangled cry, a confession ripped from the very core of his being, a truth he'd been running from since the moment he'd pulled the trigger. âDonât you see? I could have killed you... I almost killed youâŠâ
You could see that he was losing the battle against himself, the fight for control heâd waged for weeks finally slipping through his fingers.
âForgive me,â he whispered, his voice cracking again, the words an admission of his vulnerability, his need for you, the one person he felt he'd failed. âPlease⊠forgive me.â
âJohn, stop.â You finally whispered as he seemed to have paused his emotional confession. You shifted closer to him, gently placing your hands on his ribs, his warmth seeping into your skin. âYouâre not a monster. The hostages, theyâre alive because of you. You saved Gaz. You saved my life. And you were the only one who could make that shot. You know that.â
Your hands found their way around him, to lift his head, so that he would look at you, so you could see him, the man you loved, lost in the depths of his own despair. You gently cupped his cheeks, your fingers wiping away the trails of tears that were rolling down, a gesture of comfort, of reassurance, and a silent plea for him to believe in your love, in the truth that transcended his self-inflicted judgment. âListen to me.â You said, louder now, your voice a lifeline thrown out to pull a man drowning back to the surface. âThere is nothing to forgive.â
âBut I ââ He started to argue, to protest, but the words caught in his throat, his breath hitched as he surrendered to the grief, the remorse, that had been bottled up inside him for so long.
"Shh," you soothed, leaning in, your forehead resting against his.
You pulled back slightly, meeting his gaze. âI donât blame you for this, John. Not one bit. Not a single, tiny bit."
His eyes, shadowed with doubt, searched yours, as if looking for the lie, the accusation he was convinced he deserved instead.
âYes, it sucks. Yes, it hurts.â You continued, your voice soft but firm, âbut you know what would have hurt more? Dead parents and their children, and me⊠maybe not even here to hurt at all. He was about to fire, John. You know it. I know it.â
You held his gaze, your thumbs stroking the lines of pain etched around his eyes, lines that spoke of sleepless nights. âYou may not want to be called a hero, John,â you whispered, leaning forward, resting your forehead against his again, offering him the comfort, the understanding, the love he so desperately needed. âBut you are my hero. You did the right thing. If there's anyone on this earth who could make that shot, that impossible shot, who could put a bullet through my shoulder and stop a terroristâs heart in the same breath⊠itâs you. Itâs always been you.â
He stared at you, the intensity of his gaze softening as he listened to your words, the frantic beating of his heart gradually slowing, the storm within him beginning to calm.
âI justâŠâ The confession escaped his lips on a shuddering breath. âI almost lost you. The thought of itâŠâ He trailed off, unable to voice the terror that haunted him, the vision of your lifeless body, his bullet the cause, a constant nightmare from which there seemed no escape.
âIâm here,â you whispered, cutting him off before he could descend back into the abyss of his own making. âIâm alive.â
He closed his eyes, surrendering to the pressure of your touch, your warmth seeping into his skin. He let himself get pulled against your chest, his head resting so he could hear your heartbeat steadily in his ear. A reassuring lullaby to soothe him, a reminder that you were still here, with him.
âI love you,â he whispered, the words broken, a confession wrenched from his soul. âGod, I love you so much⊠I almost⊠Iâm so sorryâŠâ
âI know, John.â
His breathing slowed as the tension ebbed from his body. He realized then, in the quiet aftermath, that pulling away, retreating into the silence of his own guilt, had only deepened the cut, amplified his pain. The distance had been a lie, a shield he'd put up to protect you from him, but now he knew: you didnât need protection. You needed him, just as he needed you. The only force strong enough to pull him back from the abyss, the only remedy to heal those self-inflicted wounds, was you.
âI know.â
His tears continued to fall, but they were different now â not the hot, frantic tears of a man drowning in guilt, but softer, almost silent tears, born of exhaustion and a fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to forgive himself.
You watched him as he drifted off to sleep, his face finally peaceful. For the first time in weeks, he slept without nightmares and tremors. He was exhausted â emotionally, physically drained â the weight of his guilt temporarily lifted by the power of your presence, your touch, your love.
You leaned down, your lips brushing against his hair, your lips lingering, as you rested your head above his.
âI love you, too, John. Itâs alright. Weâre alright.â

Otoya Eita:
âą"yeah, I'm fine with it" he said, his tone as casual as possible. He knew your relationship wasn't going to last long, and it was part of the thrill he felt when he was with you. But when the parting time finally came, he didn't feel right. He thought he could just move on, quickly forgetting you and your shared moments to focus on the next girl he was going to pull.. but no, not this time. Otoya was very confused, why was he suddenly getting emotional? Why was he starting to feel uneasy, a surging pain in his stomach made him feel awful, as if he got repeatedly punched in the abdomen, all while he was looking at you in the far distance. You, the one who made him feel like he could've reached heaven with how much pleasure he felt; you, the girl he always enjoyed spending time with because you were fun and interesting, you the one who got his heart.
âąEita was mad at first, why the fuck did it hurt so much? It's not like it was the first time he got a heartbreak, he'd usually just bury the pain with sex, fucking around with multiple women, until he forgot about everything, the pain eventually subsiding. And he tried, like, he tried really hard, going every night to nightclubs and having one nightstands with every woman he found somewhat hot.. the thing is, the sex was awful..it didn't feel right, it was dull and boring, as if all the feelings in his body were dead, making him unable to feel the slightest sparkle of excitement. He'd often ask himself, why was he like this? Why couldn't he just bounce back like before, going back to being the destrous ninja of seduction he once was.. even all the women he had picked were somewhat of a close replica to you, all sharing common attributes that you had.. I guess you are really unreplaceable..
âąthat, was his situation for a while, being the slave of a non ending vicious circle of sex, alcohol and depression. That was, until he finally saw you at one of the clubs he frequented. It's like his world lit up, transforming from a dark nightmare to the sweetest of dreams. His eyes widened in surprise, not expecting to meet you at all, but there you were, looking ever so stunning, wearing your prettiest dress, and hypnotizing everyone with your looks. At first he froze, not knowing what to do. But then he decided that it was time to put an end to his misery, deciding it would be best to just confess to you, and tell you how much he had been yearning for you for the past weeks. You were quite stunned too, not only not expecting this sudden encounter, but also not even imagining that this womanizer would be pouring his heart out to you.. you smiled subtly, thinking his actions were cute, yet you were still indecisive, you didn't trust him enough, thinking he'd break your heart if you let him in, which was indeed why you left him. You started catching feelings, all this intimacy between the two of you sparking a growing love for the man. Eita, ever so happy, was quick to hug you, pressing soft kisses on your lips until they became more and more heated, leading the both of you to make out heatedly in the middle of the club. Then.. well let's just say you were way too needy for each other to wait to go home so instead you fucked in one of the bathroom stalls... His hand was pushing you onto the door, your tube top pushed down to reveal your tits that were squished against the cold surface, as Eita was behind you, rumming his rock hard cock relentlessly, like he'd always do..

Itoshi Sae:
âąhe had that cold, expressionless face he always had when it happened. You had invited him to talk, insisting it was best if it happened in person. He looked so stunning, his teal eyes, an amalgamation of the most serene blue sky and most captivating green seas, were a pool of alluring coolness. No matter how hard the news might've been, he never budged.. he just nodded, agreeing with your request for ending things. And that's how, you both just walked away, forgetting all the moments of your shared passion, as if you finished the last chapter of a boring book. But.. did he really find your fling boring? Was he really willing to just move on, as if nothing had happened?
âąSae was used to the solitude, he was a reservated person, not allowing anyone in his circle, and the fact that you managed to get in that close to him, must've meant something right?.. it couldn't have been just purely a give and receive link, it must've been much more than that. He was human after all, meaning that he must've felt the smallest shred of something, anything really, even if it was lust, hate or love. Sae was confused, not knowing how to act or what to feel. He just went back to being to his usual self, an egoist who only cares about his sacred soccer.. but if that's what he thought he did, then why couldn't he sleep at night? Why was his bed so empty all of a sudden? Why was he flipping through the pics you post on your socials? Did you really manage to plague his mind? Turning him from a cold hearted egoista, to a yearning lover, a man that needed your presence as much as he needed oxygen to survive.
âąThe nights felt long, unending hours of long lasting boredom and solitude, weighted down on Sae's mind. He wanted it to stop, needing this feeling of hollowness to be over. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to rest.. he took his phone, 2 AM.. great you might be sleeping he thought.. he looked intensely at your contact info on his screen, contemplating if calling you would be the right choice.. it was his first time being indecisive, he was always a confident man, always sure of himself and his actions; but this time he wasn't.. his hands trembling as he held the phone. In the end he said fuck It, deciding that going to your house was the best option.. once he arrived, he ringed the bell, waiting for you. When you came out, wearing your comfy pj's, and asking why he was here while yawning, he just grabbed your face and kissed you, not even wasting time on words. He led you inside, huffing out how much he missed you and how he can't be apart from you.. you couldn't give him a straight answer yet, but you still didn't deny him, inviting him in, keeping him all close and cozy, so warm and feeling heavenly as his big cock is buried deep inside your hot cunny.

Bachira Meguru:
âąthings between the two of you started getting a bit rocky, his possessiveness was too overwhelming. He was always by your side, his presence so suffocating that it left you drained both emotionally and physically. It was after one of your encounters that you decided to call things off. Bachira was panting heavily, his chest heaving as he came down from his high. He still was on top of you, looking down at you with his lovestruck look.. you kinda felt bad about what you were about to do, knowing how sad he'll be once you leave him. Meguru, tiredly laid beside you, looking at you before wrapping an arm around your naked figure..you were kinda starting to rethink your actions, thinking that maybe you could get used to his.. well, quirkiness? But you didn't, once Bachira announced something about wanting you to be fully his, you finally snapped. You quickly got up, getting your scattered up clothes and putting them on without saying a word.. you didn't wanna get even more mad, nor upset him with the bullshit you knew you were about to say if u really snapped. The man behind you, looking ever so struck by your sudden change in behavior grabbed you by the forearm, asking what happened.. oh man, you did snap at that time.. you started throwing insults at him, telling him how suffocated you felt, before you gathered your stuff and left him alone in his apartment.
âąTo say that Bachira was shocked was an understatement. He couldn't believe what he heard.. he.. was suffocating? Was he really so frustrating and maddening like you just said? He didn't wanna believe this, thinking that maybe you just had a bad day, maybe you were mad at everyone and he just so happened to be the unlucky one to have to undergo such a shitty experience. But deep down he knew the truth. He knew that you entirely meant what you said, all those words hitting him like a poisonous dagger to the heart. He did everything for you, treated you like a princess, gave you constant attention, never once did he let you out of his sight.. he swore he was the best you could've ever had, the one and only who would worship you and treat you like the goddess you are.. yet, you left him. Like everybody else did. He should've been used to it by now, but fuck It hurt.. I guess that's why he felt hot globs of tears streaming down his face, his sobbing filling up the room. He really didn't deserve all this pain that you so hurtfully inflicted on him.
âąafter crying his heart out, he concluded that this wasn't the solution, deciding that if you weren't going to be willingly his , he was going to do it forcefully. Bachiras is known to have a dark side in him, a so-called monster that whispers the filthiest, most evil ideas in his mind. It was time to hear his alter-ego, using this demonic quirk of his to finally show you who you belong to, finally convincing you that he's your one and only. That's why, late at night he sneaked into your house..(he might've made a copy of your key without you noticing but Shhh) waiting for your arrival. As for you, you were getting home from work, unable to shake away the thought of how badly you treated Bachira. You wanted to apologize, but you were way too tired, so u decided that tomorrow you'll go to his place and make up with him. You unlocked your door, finally entering your home, when you saw Bachira laying all comfy on your sofa.. you were very much surprised, thinking that maybe it was because you were tired. Noticing you, meguru quickly went up to you, hugging you so tightly you could've swore you stopped breathing for a sec, before caressing your face, looking at you with a devilish gaze as he whispered in your ear, "you'll always be mine sweet thing!" Before pressing a wet kiss to your neck, "we're going to have so much fun tonight my love." He chuckled, his hands quickly finding your sides as he pressed his body flush against yours, the feeling of his hard-on on your lower abdomen.

Shidou Ryusei:
âąok..ummm, did I mention that this man is pure evil? Like he won't leave you so easily, never letting you slip from his grip without any consequencesâthis is if he ever let you go, because let's be honest, shidou would never ever let you dissapear from his life, letting your shared memories transforming into a mirage that would forever haunt him. He'd first laugh at you, thinking you weren't serious about calling things off. He'd wrap his arms around your frame, squeezing the plump skin of your butt, a nasty habit of his, telling you that it was a nice joke. But when you slapped him, telling him how much of a maniac he is and walking away, he was surprised. He didn't expect his ever obliging fwb, would have some personality.
âąat first he'd let you go, still a bit startled from that whole ordeal, but then he'd start manically laughing, delving so deep down in his psychopathy that he might've become even more insane just from that.. He HAD to make you his, one way or another. He was totally convinced that you were just playing hard to get, or maybe into some kind of cat and mouse chasing thing.. maybe he could even use this dynamic for your next sexy sesh.. but that's for another time to discuss..
âąshidou, just walked up to you, hugging you from behind, as if you were a lovey-dovey couple, just casually nuzzling his face into the crook of your neck and pressing wet kisses on the skin. You were startled for sure, not wanting any sort of contact with this devilish monster; yet, you couldn't deny his effect on you, a small pool of wetness forming between your legs, but you'll never let him know of course. Somehow, managing to push him off of you, you told him to go away, refusing any form of link to him. Chuckling, Ryusei pulled his phone, his large hands scrolling through his gallery until he found them... All your sex tapes, ready to be sent to everyone who knew you. Grinning devilishly, shidou blackmailed you, you got two choices, you were either to be completely humiliated or to come back to that psycho ... He pressed you, forcing you to choose quickly, otherwise he'd do what you dreaded most. In either way you'd lose your dignity, since being with such a freak had its downsides.. I guess you had no choice, but to forcefully get back with him.
"Mm yeah, that's more like it, my little cockwhore!" He grinned, as he was spreading your ass cheek, looking down at how his big cock was sinking deeply in your soaked folds, all while you were a moaning mess under him.. he's so demonic fr..

Chigiri Hyoma:
âąchigiri knew he loved you, he knew for a long time now, always thinking about how he could change your mind, how to make you his gf.. he could've done so much for you, treating you like the queen you are, showing you unyielding affection... anything, he would've done anything for you.. yet, you rejected him. It stung like hell, the loneliness was catching up to him, and that mixed up with the sickening sadness and sorrow he felt was the most potent of poisons.
âąHe was alone on his bed, looking up at the ceiling as he was sobbing, warm tears streaming down his pretty face. Handsome faces shouldn't cry, you told him before you left, caressing his face one last time before you disappeared from his life. The mere thought of that agonizing moment sent Hyoma into another hysterical crying.. he couldn't believe he got so hypnotized by you that was reduced to this state. He knew you wanted nothing more than sex, he knew that what you had was ephemeral; yet he still couldn't accept the fact that he had lost you. The worst being the way you rejected him, smiling so reassuringly, so softly and so prettily, your face was imprinted in his mind. No matter how much he exhausted himself in training or drowned himself in alcohol, he couldn't forget you. How dare you break his heart in such a nonchalant way, reassuring him he'll find the one for him, even if you knew he had eyes only for you? You were so cruel, he thought.
âądays passed since your splitting, and shit started weighing down on your consciousness.. I mean, you did realize that you broke his heart. With a sigh, you decided to stop thinking about him, recalling that all men were the same, all horny and unmannered, always making sexual jokes and treating you like some kind of fucktoy. That was the male treatment you were used to, so when you started frequenting Chigiri, it felt.. different. Sure he was still a man with his own needs and stupidity, yet he was the most caring and gentle one of them all. Slowly you started to realize the huge mistake you made. With tears threatening to fall on your face, you got out of your house, running as fast as you could to apologize to the sweetest, most handsome man you've ever met.. the man you loved. Ringing his bell repeatedly, he opened the door and saw you. Another surge of tears came out, making him sob uncontrollably. So you quickly hugged him, pressing kisses on his head, apologizing for the catastrophic mistake you've made.. in the end, let's just say that he accepted your apology, letting you ride all the sadness out of him, as you're tenderly making out.. make up sex with Chigiri was truly the best.

Barou Shoei :
âąbarou didn't need you anyway, you were such a nuisance to him, he thought. Not only were you so neglecting of his feelings, but you also had the guts to dump him, discarding him like a used toy that you didn't need anymore. Wasn't he your king? The only man that made you feel intense ecstasy? Well you were in the wrong, like you've always been, he thought once again. Barou could live perfectly without you, it's not like his existence depended on yours, and also it's not like he wanted the presence of someone who didn't want him back. Yet, why did he feel a tinge of sadness? Why was it that when he saw happy couples on the street, he felt like he had a hole in his chest that couldn't be filled no matter what? He didn't know why for sure, and he never even wanted to know.
âąWhat a stubborn king, suppressing all his feelings until they burst like an atomic bomb. And indeed that's what happened, he denied the fact that he still loves you, he hates it. It makes him feel weak, transforming him from a glorious king to a heartbroken slave.. Barou wanted nothing more than his feelings for you to disappear, wanting to put his constant yearning for you to a halt, but he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried, you wouldn't get out of his mind, for a moment he thought that you had cast a spell on him, one so potent that left him entrances, as if he was hypnotized by a siren's voice..
âąBarou wanted so badly to come back to you, to just be in your arms, to be able to love you without any restrictions.. but you deprived him of this happiness, condemning him to a life of sorrow and desperation.. As for you, well, you weren't doing so good either. You tried everything to forget him too, but your king had already left his imprint on you, forever changing your life, making it so that he was the only man you'd ever think about. You did send him countless messages, apologizing to him, asking him to meet up to set things straight yet he never responded, he was such a proud mf. So that's why you just went up to him during one of his training, it was the only choice as he couldn't ignore you there. But since Barou didn't wanna cause a scene, he just dragged you to the locker room, opting that finishing your conversation there would provide some more privacy. Well.. let's just say that your conversation was cut short, and the locker room was now filled with both of your moans, as Shoei was kinda busy making sure you'll never leave him, thrusting in you from behind, marking you, biting sucking and kissing your neck and shoulders so that way next time you'll know better than to leave your king.

KINKTOBER DAY 2: ISAGI YOICHI + VOYEURISM.
⥠tags ; afab + gender neutral reader (reader wears panties + has boobs. no gendered language), implied noncon voyeurism (noncon to dubcon), roomate au, mutual masturbation, aged-up characters, 18+
⥠wc ; 1.2k (keeping this short was . hard)
⥠a/n ; one of two pieces for @ficsforgaza ! i have another one out for the 19th.
its only been two days but i miss my pookies immensely. i spend so much time on here my day has felt quiet af without it lol. but no being here until the 14th đđ
⥠synopsis ; isagi can't help but take advantage of the fact you keep forgetting to close the door.
It was never his intent to make a habit of it.
The first time was an accident. A late realization that you hadnât shut the door to your bedroom completely when you got out of your bath, door slightly ajar. When he went to be a half-decent room mate - you were bent over and naked, damp skin and wet hair right in his line of vision. The first time he ever saw what you kept concealed under baggy clothes and long sweatpants. His hand dropped to his side just before he could turn the knob and silently signal that heâd closed it. It was well past midnight when you took your shower, and heâs usually not home. He didnât figure thereâd be any point in announcing it so he was going to close the door.
He was just going to close the door.
Maybe you figured he wouldnât be home and didn't bother. Maybe you didnât sense him. But he stayed there for the duration of your post bath routine - half-hard and chest heaved, guilt weighing on his conscience as your fingers smoothed lotion into your skin. As you bent over to reach for your clothes, showing off whats between your legs before you slid your shorts on to go to sleep. He only left after he was sure you were done, crept quietly to his bedroom as not to alert you.
When he came back to his room, he mostly felt ashamed. He did his usual routine, turned off the lights, and went to bed. Laid in the dark with his heart pounding and a dull throb between his legs. He absolved the feeling by assuring to himself that it would be one off and using that to lull himself asleep.
Youâre roomates, so you saw each other the next morning like normal. Ate breakfast, talked before he went back to practice, asked if he would be home for dinner and if he would - what he wanted to eat. He pushed it out of the forefront of his mind when he had to reply. Managed to act normal.
But when heâd left for practice, he was dizzy with lust. Knowing all your curves and outlines and stretchmarks made him so hard he could barely stand, back to the door of your apartment with his heart up in his throat.
He went to practice to sweat it off, worked extra hard to push it out of his mind. He'd done that for weeks.
It worked until he inevitably came home to you every night - until he started to take notice of how often you make these little careless mistakes. It was an accident at best. You had no idea heâd seen you that way. Or that every time you bent over to reach for something, he pictured bare legs and soft cunt on display - something arousing about even your most innocuous gestures.
He didnât intend to make a habit of it, but he couldnât get it off his mind. You didnât know. He liked that you didn't know. You smiled, spoke, laughed with him as usual. Nothing had to change between you or be ruined, if he got to curb any stronger desires by letting himself look when he wasnât supposed too.
Isagi learns almost against his will, you frequently leave your door slightly open when heâs not supposed to be home. He starts coming home earlier just to affirm it.
Youâre not always naked, but sometimes you are - in which he always stays to watch you until you dress. Most other times, youâve taken your pants off and you lay on your stomach, with your ass facing the door. He usually stays to see that too. Your panties are always thin and cute - and rarely cover up what he's most interested.
He never risks doing anything about it in the door way. He always waits until heâs back in his room. Shuts his door, leans against it with the clothes he wears to practice still on - shirt clamped between his teeth as he rubs his cock raw to the sight of you. Dizzy with want, despite himself. Hard enough for one time to not be enough.
Until now, heâs never gotten so lucky as to catch you masturbating, which is also why heâs never risked doing the same - only a few feet away.
Isagi feels his chest grow tight with want as he watches you through the crack of youâre door. A towel underneath you as you ride a silicone toy with your ass up and face down. Youâve got something else pushed against your clit, a vibrator whirring as your hips buck up every time you move back down.
Youâre at an angle so you can lay forward on a pillow, arm underneath with your face pressed into it. Itâs not enough to muffle the noise as you move your hips on instinct, rocking up and down to get the right pace as you fuck yourself.
Isagi is so fucking hard. So hard, he can barely breathe. His hand is wrapped around his cock without shame, arousal making him lightheaded as he watches you slowly move against it - moaning loudly. He can see everything. How wet you are, how your soft cunt clings so tight to the silicone toy, how your arms shake as you hold the vibrator at an angle to make sure it keep contact with your over sensitive clit.
You make yourself cum once. Slam your hips down, tensed thighs trembling as your free hand holds onto the sheet underneath you. He slows his hand, takes a deep breath and waits for you to stop before he turns to leave.
But you only pause, brief - to let yourself take in some air before turning up the intensity and fucking yourself even harder.
Isagi barely suppresses a groan. He spits quietly into the palm of his hand and fists his shaft - fucking his fist as he watches you fuck yourself again and again. You look pretty when you get off, sound even prettier - moaning soft until you get closer to your peak again and gradually get louder. He pictures joining. Replacing your toy with his cock until youâre bent over with your face in the bed - his hand holding up your vibrator so he can feel you cum on his cock again and again. How nice and wet your pretty pussy would be squeezing the cum from him, how deep heâd fuck himself inside of your tight hole like heâs been imagining for all the months heâs been watching you. He doesnât have to touch you to know your pussy would be so perfect for him. Doesnât have to guess what you would look like - tits bouncing as you ride his dick and whine his name.
Heâs so busy thinking about it, he thinks hearing his name slip from your mouth as you push yourself to the edge twice is nothing more than a fantasy. An illusion of his own desire.
But then he hears it again, a lot louder - as you tense, just before cumming again.
âIsagi,â You whine. His cock twitches hard, eyes blown wide as your hips halt to a stutter. âShit, shit - Isagi, Iâm cumming,â
Isagi cums in his hands instantly. Shoots thick, hot ropes of it into his fingers - barely catching it before it can hit your fucking door. His breathing erratic, heart beating hard against the cage of his ribs. Fuck. Thereâs no way⊠right?
He looks up again, to see if youâre going to stop. Or to affirm it isnât an illusion.
And he swears you lock eyes right through the door.

â
You met him at an event hosted by the firm. The company was expanding its operations internationally and opening its first new office in London. To celebrate the new venture, a banquet was organized at the main office in New York.Â
Although youâve been working here for three years, you didnât know half of the people. You were not the kind of person who befriended her co-workers â other than Baela. She was the granddaughter of the CEO and your office mate when you started working at the firm. Now, you were best friends and roommates.Â
ââI think Jace is going to propose.ââ
You snapped your head towards her so quickly you nearly gave yourself whiplash. ââWhat?!ââÂ
ââHe has not asked â yet â,ââ Baela continued, her eyes sparkling with excitement, ââbut I think heâs going to do it soon. Very soon. Should I plan all of my next manis? I donât want him to propose when I have a chipped sparkly pink polish.ââ
ââWhen did you ever wear sparkly pink polish?ââ you asked, raising an eyebrow.
Baela shrugged, taking a sip of her drink. ââI donât know. But what I know is that I donât want sparkly pink polish when I take cute pictures with my engagement ring. My mom will repost it on her socials, and everyone will see my crusty many.ââÂ
You couldnât help but laugh at Baelaâs theatrics.Â
ââDo you think weâre going too fast?ââ Her earlier excitement faded into a nervous frown. ââWe donât even live together.ââÂ
You could see the worry lines forming on her forehead. She wasnât even engaged, and already she was fretting about the future. You didnât want to imagine the type of bride sheâll be when Jace will get down on one knee.Â
Offering her a kind and reassuring smile, you shook your head. ââToo fast would be you getting engaged to your Tinder date after two weeks. You and Jace have been dating for two years. And, when you know, you know.ââ
Baela's shoulders relaxed, and she returned your smile. She took another sip of her drink and began telling you about the hot gossip she heard in the bathroom this afternoon. There never was a dull moment with her.Â
After a story about a mystery thong found by the coffee machine, you excused yourself and went to get another drink. You suspected it belonged to one of the secretaries or the new intern, Mysaria. You saw her flirting with Baelaâs father last week.Â
You headed toward the bar, squeezing past a group of laughing executives. When you finally reached the bar, you quickly blurted out your order, eager to get a drink in hand. These work events felt tedious without the right amount of alcohol.Â
ââJust a moment, Miss,ââ the bartender said, nodding toward a tall man standing beside you. ââHe was there first.ââÂ
You turned to the man, who you had genuinely not seen, ready to apologize for cutting in line. He was dressed in a blue-gray button-up shirt and a neatly fitted waistcoat â typical business attire for these events â, and was very good looking.Â
He waved the bartender off dismissively. ââServe the lady first. I can wait,ââ he said, his voice deep and rich with a thick accent that immediately caught your attention. This man was not American.Â
Behind the bar, the bartender nodded and began preparing your drink. You turned toward the man you rudely cut in the line and thanked him. It was gentlemanly of him, but he didnât have to let you go before him. Â
He shrugged with a small, easy smile. ââItâs no trouble at all.ââÂ
There was an effortless charm that radiated from him, pulling all your strings right into his hands. You could feel his eyes drop to your dress, which hugged your curves in all the right places and revealed a bit more cleavage than would be considered appropriate at the office. Not to be outdone, you let your gaze wander too, taking in the man before you â the different colors in his eyes, his neatly cut beard, the way his waistcoat accentuated his broad shoulders. And more inappropriately, he seemed to be packing beneath those trousers.
Your drink was ready too soon, forcing you to go back to Baela to tell her about the man you just met.Â
ââWhoâs the guy with the dark hair and the thick accent?ââ you asked, watching from afar as Vaemond Velaryon stopped him and began a conversation.Â
Brother to Mr. Velaryon, Vaemond was one of the most loyal pawns of the company. But his views were often sharp and unapologetically sexist, which was why you actively avoided him. If you're looking to stir an argument with someone just for fun, go to him. His quick temper and rigid opinions made him an easy target for a heated argument.
Baela followed you sightline, a knowing smile curling on her lips. The way you asked about him was enough to guess that you fancied him. ââThatâs Cregan Stark, the managing director of the new firm in London,ââ she explained.
You frowned lightly, your eyes not leaving him. ââHeâs young to be a managing director, no?ââÂ
Baela shrugged. ââHeâs under thirty, thatâs for sure. But I doubt my grandfather would have given him the post if he wasnât competent.ââ
â.ă.:*ă»Â°â.ă.:*ă»Â°
You were utterly disappointed when you found out Cregan Stark was not on social media. How were you going to charm your way into his pants if you couldnât contact him?Â
manifest seeing him again.Â
A few weeks after the opening of the new Velaryon Importation offices, your boss needed someone to travel to London on his behalf, and you had to thank the universe for this perfect opportunity. While there were others at the firm who seemed more likely candidates, it was you who got called into his office that Thursday morning. Youâll have to thank Baela, who may have spoken good words to her grandfather in your favor.Â
ââAll Iâm asking in return is updates on the hot managing director. Call me every night. I heard british men have filthy mouths and oversized diâââÂ
Your jaw dropped, cutting her off before she could finish her sentence. ââBaela!ââÂ
She shrugged. ââWhat? Itâs what Iâve heard. If heâs really freaky, he might bend you over in his office.ââÂ
You shook your head and headed down the stairs to get into your cab.Â
Eight hours later, you landed in London and fell straight into your bed. Taylor Swift was a liar, jet-lag was not a choice.
â.ă.:*ă»Â°â.ă.:*ă»Â°
ââMr. Stark is on a phone call. Heâll be down shortly,ââ his secretary informed you with a friendly smile.Â
She was blonde and stunningly beautiful, which made you wonder if Cregan had an affair going on with her. It was an office classic: an executive hooking up with his secretary.
You took a seat in the sleek, modern office and glanced around, waiting.Â
Moments later, Cregan Stark walked in, exuding effortless charm.Â
ââApologies for the delay,ââ he said, his deep northern accent adding a rugged charm to his words as he extended his hand. ââI was held back on the phone.ââ
You took his hand, feeling a brief, electrifying contact. âNo worries at all,â you replied, flashing a warm smile.
He was even more handsome than youâd remembered. His dark hair was pulled back into, giving him a more professional look, his crisp button up was clinging to his broad shoulders, and his beard made you want to push his face between your legs â be damned the carpet burns!
You needed to manifest this.
Creganâs eyebrows furrowed as he looked at you, a flicker of recognition in his eyes. âWe met at the banquet in New York, didnât we?â he asked, his gaze lingering on the wrapped neckline of your blouse and the soft curves concealed by your tight skirt. âI didnât catch your name, though.â
You gave him your name and he repeated it, falling sweetly on his tongue. You wanted to hear it again.
ââItâs quite the pleasure to see you again, Y/N,ââ he said, his eyes catching yours.Â
Then, the boring part of your trip to London began. You followed Cregan as he gave you a visit of the offices, pointing out the various departments and introducing you to key staff members, but your thoughts kept drifting back to the way heâd said your name and the way his hand â twice the size of yours â had lingered just a moment longer than necessary during your handshake.Â
You wanted that big hand all over your body. Especially between your thighs.Â
Shaking any inappropriate thought off your mind, you pulled out your phone and asked questions about various things Mr. Velaryon wanted you to check on, almost forgetting the reason for your presence in London. You took notes, not wanting to be empty handed when youâll write your report email later.
As the tour continued, you were obsessed with the way the executive stole glances at you. He watched the way you moved, the way you spoke to people, the way your glossy lips curled when you laughed at Oliverâs British humor. He didnât fail to notice the way your hips swayed as you walked past him everytime he held open a door for you.Â
You would be lying if you said you did not wear this skirt on purpose. It made your ass look fantastic.Â
Finally, you reached Creganâs office. He opened the door for you and gestured for you to step inside. The office was sleek and modern, with large windows overlooking the city â not much different from the ones in New York. Except for the green couch in the corner, creating as a small lounge area.Â
He had planned to take you out for lunch, but the tour of the offices took longer than he would have liked and now there was a bright pink post-it on his desk â written by his secretary â, a glaring reminder of a meeting he seemed to have forgotten.
ââI would have invited you for lunch,ââ Cregan said, a hint of frustration in his tone as he glanced at the post-it. ââBut I have a meeting inâŠââ He checked his watch and frowned, ââ...ten minutes ago.ââ He let out a soft curse under his breath. ââMondays never fail to keep me busy. Iâm always on the run.ââ
You couldnât help but smile at his mild panic. ââI can take myself to lunch, Mr. Stark. It is not a problem. Iâm a big girl, Iâll find my way around the city.ââÂ
ââNo,ââ he interrupted, a touch of insistence in his voice. ââI insist. Let me make it up to you. How about dinner tonight instead? I should be out of the office by 7pm. Can we meet up for 8?ââ He leaned in slightly, his tone dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. ââA friend of mine owns a restaurant. Iâll ask him to save us a table.ââ   Â
The thought of having dinner with him, just the two of you, made your stomach do little flips. But you tried to keep your cool and nodded with a smile. ââ8pm is good with me.ââÂ
â.ă.:*ă»Â°â.ă.:*ă»Â°
You mentally patted yourself on the back for bringing a dress in your suitcase. Without it, you would have been forced to go to dinner in your office clothes. They weren't ugly per se, but you would never wear them on a hot date. Not that tonight was a date. It was just dinner between colleagues.
You should remind yourself of that as you applied lipstick and extra spritz of perfume.Â
When you arrived at the restaurant, Cregan was waiting outside. He was still in his office clothes, but his tie was removed and the first buttons of his shirt were undone.Â
He led you inside, his hand coming at the small of your back, and you smiled at the ground. Maybe his intentions for tonight were not different from yours.Â
A waitress took you to your table, promising to return with the wine card. Wine and a hot date on a Monday. Were you becoming your mother?Â
Before sitting down, you removed your light coat, revealing the thin straps and the sweetheart neckline of your dress. You didnât miss the low groan Cregan tried â and failed â to suppress, his eyes lingering a bit longer than necessary. You caught the way his jaw tightened slightly, his gaze darkening as if he was fighting to maintain his composure.
ââHow is London so far?ââ he asked, clearing his throat and taking a sip of wine, trying to refocus. ââDid you do anything this afternoon?''Â
You wished.Â
ââTruthfully, I napped all afternoon. I had this ambitious itinerary of all the sights I wanted to see and shops I wanted to go to, but jet lag hit me hard right after I left the office. I barely managed to order room service before I passed out.ââ
Cregan chuckled softly, his eyes still subtly tracing the curve of your neckline. ââJet lag can be brutal. But hey, at least it means you wonât be falling asleep on me tonight.â His tone was teasing, a playful grin tugging at his lips.
You leaned in slightly, your smile turning sly. âLucky you.â
As the dinner progressed and plates were brought over, you began feeling a little bolder in your flirting. You slipped your shoe off under the table and stretched your leg out slowly, brushing your foot lightly against his ankle. Â
You watched as Creganâs eyes widened just a fraction, his breath catching slightly. He tried to maintain his composure and focus on the conversation you were having, but you could see the corner of his mouth twitching, fighting back a grin. You continued the gentle pressure, running your foot up his leg under the table, teasing him just enough to make him shift uncomfortably again in his seat. You were grateful for the table cloth shielding the restaurant of what was happening underneath.Â
Cregan leaned in over the table, his voice dropping to a whisper. ââYouâre playing a dangerous game, love.ââÂ
You felt a shiver run down your spine as he called you âloveâ, the word sending a fresh wave of heat pooling in your stomach.Â
ââWho, me?ââ You feigned innocence, your voice dripping with playful coyness as you continued to tease him with your foot beneath the table. ââIâm just enjoying my meal, Mr. Stark.ââÂ
Cregan grimaced. ââDonât call me that. It sounds straight out of a bad porn movie.ââÂ
A giggle bubbled out of you. You had not expected him to say that.Â
You took a sip of your wine and finished your meals in silence. No more teasing.Â
When Cregan saw your empty plate, he called for the tab, ready to leave.
ââBut we still have dessert left. I was thinking with a lot of gettingâââ Â
ââFuck dessert.ââ He leaned closer, his eyes never leaving yours. ââWhat I want is not on the menu,ââ he murmured, his voice a low rumble.
â.ă.:*ă»Â°â.ă.:*ă»Â°
As soon as the doors closed, Creganâs mouth crashed on yours. He backed you up against one of the walls, his body towering over yours. The elevator started moving, going on its slow rise up to the tenth floor. You barely felt it under your feet, your brain tuning off as you felt his large hand grab one of your breasts over your dress, which Cregan had been dying to do ever since he met you at the banquet.Â
He groaned in your mouth, and you grinned. This dress truly was a great pick.Â
Behind him, the numbers were going up, now reaching the third floor.Â
You pushed your hands under Creganâs jacket, feeling the warmth of his chest over his button as his tongue slipped into your mouth, tasting the overpriced wine on each other's tongue.Â
You tried to hook your leg to his hip, but it was not working. His tall frame was a blessing and a curse. Chuckling, Cregan came to your help and held your leg up while his other hand moved down underneath your dress, his fingers pulling your panties to the side and rubbing at your clit. Your head fell back against the wall, melting against his hand and breaking the kiss.
''More please,'' you sighed.Â
Cregan smiled against your neck, and then he pushed a finger inside you. He felt rough against your smooth channel, and you couldnât help but clench down around him. A second finger stroked across your clit. It made you shiver as he filled you up. Your legs buckled. If it wasnât for his body and the wall keeping you upright, you were not sure you would be standing. Especially in heels.Â
You gripped at the front of his button up, clinging to him and moaning loudly while his hand worked quickly at your cunt. If anyone were to hail the elevator, you would be very embarrassed, yet a small part of you wanted it to happen.Â
But it didnât.Â
Before you could reach your peak, the elevator dinged and Cregan pulled his hand out.Â
ââIâŠI donât think I can walk,ââ you said with a giggle, not trusting yourself on your feet. The combination of the two glasses of wine and what just happened made your head spin.Â
Taking matters in his own hands, Cregan simply lifted you and carried you to your room. You fumbled with the key card â those damn things never work on the first try â, then he shut the door with the heel of his foot.Â
Once inside, he set you down on the bed and you removed your shoes, kicking them off your feet.Â
You'll have to tell Baela about your adventure in the elevator later. Â
Right now, you really needed Cregan to satisfy the burning desire between your legs. Preferably with his cock. His fingers were nice â thick and long â, but judging by the tent in his pants. his cock will make you see fucking stars.Â
As if he had read your thoughts, Cregan began taking off his jacket and button up, leaving him in his work pants. You eyed him hungrily. He looked strong and sturdy, not like those gym bros youâve encountered in the past.Â
You stood so he could unzip your dress, but first pressed you up against his chest, one hand coming under your jaw to hold you in place as he kissed you. He was kissing you even harder than he had in the elevator, his touch sending tingles of heat through the material.Â
Creganâs lips were hot and demanding, his tongue delving deep into your mouth. You could feel the heat of his body pressing against you, the firm muscles of his chest against your back, as you melted under his kiss. You felt your dress loosen as his hands worked the zipper, sliding it down your body.
As it finally slipped from your body, Cregan drew back to admire the sight of you, standing there with no bra, only lace panties and stockings up to your thighs.Â
A feral growl left his mouth, the sight making his cock twitch painfully. ââDid you plan on killing me tonight?'' he muttered, closing the distance between you again. One hand slid into your hair, his touch gentle yet possessive, while the other gripped a handful of your ass, his fingers digging into the soft flesh. ââBecause youâre fucking killing me right now.ââÂ
You couldnât help the grin curling on your lips. His words sent a thrill through your body. You would not have taken him for a lingerie man, but it was good to know.
ââDonât worry. Iâm not a praying mantis,ââ you said, alluding to how they bit off the head of their mates after mating.Â
Cregan couldnât help but laugh at your humor. You were hot and funny?Â
The bed was unmade from your afternoon nap as you and Cregan fell onto it. He had taken the rest of his clothes off, and his now bare â and hard â cock was rubbing against your panties as his hips rutted against yours. You moaned as you bucked your hips into his, your fingernails scratching down Creganâs back.Â
He pulled the crotch of your panties to the side, rubbing the head of his cock on your cunt. The contact made you moan.
ââI think someone enjoyed the elevator a lot, uh?ââ Cregan teased, feeling how wet you were. Your panties were soaked from your arousal. ââShould we try it in the officeâs elevator tomorrow?ââ He pushed his tip against your clit, sending jolts up your spine. ââMaybe I should fully take you this time? Would you like that, love?ââÂ
The thought of doing something so forbidden made your heart beat faster and your walls clench. It would probably get you both fired. Your boss would never tolerate this kind of inappropriate behavior at the workplace.Â
âPlease, yes,â you gasped out, your legs spreading more for him.Â
Cregan smirked, continuing his assault on your little bud, pushing his red tip against your clit in slow, deliberate strokes until your legs shook and you came, your back arching off the bed. Â
Breathing heavily, you closed your eyes for a short second. When you opened them again, you saw Cregan stroking himself before pulling on a condom. Air caught in your throat â shocked â when your eyes fell on his cock. Your assumptions had been right â the man was packing.Â
And if he knows how to use it, you won't be able to walk tomorrow.Â
He pulled your panties down, not letting you time to recover from your orgasm. You were about to do the same with your stockings, but Cregan stopped you.Â
ââLeave them on,ââ he said, rubbing your thighs. ââI like it.ââÂ
He turned you over, positioning you on your fours for him, and grabbed your ass before giving it a smack. The sound echoed in the hotel room.Â
You glanced over your shoulder, watching as Cregan pushed his hair out of his eyes. He locked eyes with you, then lined himself at your entrance, slowly sliding in. You whimpered and clung to the sheets as you felt yourself stretch to accommodate him. They say that beauty is pain, but so is a good dick.
ââYou alright?ââ Cregan asked, checking on you.Â
You gave him a small âyesâ. Your last Tinder date didnât bother checking on you before slamming into you. This was an upgrade.Â
After a moment, your walls no longer clamped around him and Cregan took this as his cue to start moving. He went slow, feeling every inch of his thick cock being squeezed at every deep thrust, eliciting breathy moans from your sweet lips.Â
ââFuck, you feel so good around me. Your sweet cuntâs squeezing me with a vice grip,ââ he praised as grabbed your hips, wishing he had made a move on you a month ago. Â
If he had, you would not have spent so much alone time with your sparkly pink little helper.Â
ââHarder. Fuck me harder,ââ you demanded, pushing back against him. ââYou're not going to break me.ââÂ
Answering your wishes, Cregan slammed into you and watched as you reeled of pleasure, getting fuck you just like you craved. His pace never once faltered and his cock slid in your cunt so fast all you could do was moan his name and clench the sheets as Cregan left you breathless and helpless, hitting all the right spots.Â
With a loud shriek you came all over him, your cunt gripping him like a vice, making him moan as he finally came deep inside you â well, into the condom.
â.ă.:*ă»Â°â.ă.:*ă»Â°
While Cregan was in the shower, washing off the sweat of the day and the smell of sex off him, you pulled out your phone and sent a quick text to Baela.Â
To Baela: You were right about British men. Best. Sex. Ever.Â

When the barrier came down Harry expected nothing of it. He was ready to cause mischief with the Auradon people. He hadnât met anyone from there before but he assumed that they were stuck up and wouldnât want to associate with isle people, Harry thought it wouldnât be long before they tried putting a barrier back up again.
Harry was enrolled to the school and he wasnât expecting anything he was interested in to happen, especially not from the big welcome they did for all the new students. He could already tell this was gonna drag well, that was until he saw you.
He was assigned to shadow you for the week so he could get to know the school and the classes. Harry was suddenly interested in what this school had to offer, or more so you.
He was immediately infatuated with you. He wanted to follow you everywhere and luckily just for this week he could. You would spend all day together and part to go to different dorms yet Harry would still think of you til he feel asleep, you were constantly on his mind. Similarly, Harry had grown on you since his arrival. You had been keen to be a welcomer for the isle kids because you felt they deserved a chance and you wouldnât listen to certain kids that were opposed to it. You wanted the isle people to feel welcome and here you were halfway through the week of Harry shadowing you. It had been amazing so far, much better than you could have ever thought. You had become close friends fast as it turned out you shared the same humour and his quick remarks he made during class would always make you laugh. You ended up even spending your breaks and lunch with Harry because you couldnât get enough of his presence.
When the end of the week came and Harry got his time table you were praying that you shared at least a few classes together. It turned out that you did in fact share classes while not all like the past week, it was enough to satisfy both of you.
Since Harry had joined the school there hadnât been a dull day. He joined your group of friends and he managed to get along with many people. While he had become better behaved he hadnât completely given up his ways, he managed pull quite a few pranks off with many not being tied back to him. He had even managed to convince you on occasion to join in, you didnât know how he did it but you guessed it had something to do with the way he would lower his voice to a deeper tone and that pirate accent of his.
Many months of being friends with Harry had made you both feel very deeply for each other, it coming to a head one night when you were sitting on a roof you had snook up onto together at night under the stars. In the quiet, no words needed to be spoken as you and Harry were comfortable in each others presence. As you both turned to look at each other the air felt heavy with many unsaid things. Harry made a move first and slowly leaned in. You hurried the moment along and crashed your lips into his. From that night on it was a whirlwind of feelings. The love you shared was exciting and new, you had never felt anything like it.
Harry was obsessed with you and he would say it all the time himself. He worshipped the ground you walked on and he would follow behind you everywhere you went if he could. You had changed him and he became malleable at your will. He would listen to every thing you said and would hold onto to your every word. He would still act tough and domineering in public but behind closed doors he would beg for the smallest drop of your attention. It was like a switch and initially it had shocked you to see such a stark difference in personalities. But you loved every inch of him and he would say the same for you, he would be forever grateful for the barrier being brought down and cursed whoever for it not being brought down a while ago so that he could have known you sooner.
Headcanons:
-Would want you to wear his clothes so that they would smell of you. He would want the name of your perfume so that he could always have your scent near by but it would never be the same as you, something was missing. Would be the type to hug your pillow if you ever couldnât be with him at night.
-Would put his hat on you and immediately fall in love, would fall to his knees at the sight and would always beg you to wear it.
-Would always flirt with you and his weakness would be if you ever flirted back. He would become besotted with you and become silent from the rush of emotions it caused within him.
-Would be so whiny. Would never want to leave your side behind closed doors. Just wants to be in each others arms all day.
-He just couldnât get enough of you once you were together. Would love staring at you and into your eyes. He could listen to your voice forever.
-would always have a picture of you close by. Whether it be in his pocket, it tucked away safely in his hat, he wanted you close to him. Would also always be taking photos of you and would catch amazing candid shots of you where the light in your eyes shone.
-He may not have much but he would do whatever he could for you. He offered you his all and would hope it was enough for someone like you.
-With how obsessed he was with you he would have doubts about not being enough for you, especially with his background. Youâd be quick to reassure him with words and kisses though.
-Overall though Harry is smitten and no amount of teasing would ever change the way he feels for you. You make his heart beat and have made him a better person, he could never be more grateful for having someone like you be in love with him.

Pairing: Tim Bradford x Fem!Reader
Author's Note: I finished the entire series in a week and I am literally so obsessed! I cannot wait for the next season and I just had to write for Tim. I really hope you enjoy this. Requests for "The Rookie" are open!
Word Count: 1.2 K
When you think of Tim Bradford, now Sergeant Bradford, a lot of things come to mind. Tough. No-nonsense. Fiercely dedicated. The kind of guy who thrives under pressure and expects nothing less from those around him. Timâs the guy who keeps people at armâs length, both metaphorically and literally, a fortress of hard-earned authority. But one thing youâd never peg him as? A sucker for cuddles. Or hugs.
He wasnât the kind of guy youâd expect to be a sucker for cuddles. Or hugs. Stoic, guardedâthose were the words people used to describe him. The guy who kept his emotions in check, always composed, always in control. But after 18 gruelling hours on his feet, every inch of his body ached, and his mind buzzed with exhaustion and all he could think about as he drove home was y/n, the way sheâd wrap her arms around him. How sheâd rest her cheek against his chest, her warmth seeping into him like sunlight after a storm. It was all he wanted and all he could think about.
The moment he reached home, every part of him itched to burst through the door, stride straight to her, and lose himself in her embrace. He could almost feel itâthe warmth of her arms around him, the soft scent of her shampoo filling his senses, melting away the weight of the last 18 hours. But as he reached the door, his hand hesitated on the key. What if she was sleeping? The thought softened his urgency. Quietly, he slid the key into the lock, turning it with deliberate care, the faintest click breaking the silence. Pushing the door open just enough to slip inside, he tiptoed across the threshold, his movements cautious and measured.
But little did he know that sleep was the last thing on her mind. She was curled up on the couch, a book resting in her lap, softly humming along to the faint music playing in the background. The moment her y/e/c eyes met his, her face lit up, and she sprang to her feet, her joy radiating like sunlight through the room. Her expression quickly shifted as her gaze sharpened, scanning him from head to toe with practiced care. She looked for any signs of injury, any hidden pain he might be hiding, her concern as palpable as her love. Only when she was certain he was physically okay, did the tension in y/n's shoulders ease, and a breath she hadnât realized she was holding escaped. His reaction was the opposite though. The sharp, vigilant eyes that had been trained all day to watch for danger, to stay alert to every possible threat, softened the instant they locked onto hers. In her presence, the edges of his world dulled, and for the first time in hours, he felt something close to peace. Tim Bradford had finally made it to his home.
âYouâre home,â y/n said softly, he didnât say a word, just crossed the room in three long strides and pulled her into his arms. The weight of the world slipped away as her familiar scent surrounded him, grounding him.
"Hey, baby," she said softly, her voice warm and soothing as she pulled him closer. "Rough day? I saw the news. Iâm so proud of you."
He let out a weary sigh and pulled back a little, âIâm just grateful we got those kids back to their parents safely," he murmured, his voice heavy with exhaustion yet tinged with relief.
Y/n reached out, her fingers grazing his cheek gently. "You did good," she whispered, her gaze steady and full of admiration. "More than good." Tim only hummed in response as he buried his face further into her hair.
"Are you hungry? Should I warm up some dinner for you?" she asked, her voice laced with concern as her eyes searched his face.
He shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. "No, we grabbed something from the food truck near the station before heading out. Did YOU eat?" His hands found her cheeks, cupping them gently as his eyes filled with worry, scanning her face like she was the only thing that mattered in the world.
She grinned, a playful spark lighting her expression. "I did. The last time I offered to wait and have dinner with you after work, you threatened to watch âThe Bachelorâ without me. Remember that?"
His smile widened into a low chuckle. "And the threat still stands," he teased. "Iâm gonna grab a quick shower, and then we can get back to it. Maybe... some cuddles, too?" His voice softened with hope, a rare vulnerability sneaking through his exhaustion.
"Deal, Sergeant," she replied, laughter bubbling in her tone as she poked his chest. "But make it quick, or Iâm starting the episode without you."
He gave her a mock salute, his grin growing as he headed for the bathroom.
When he came back, the living room was unrecognizable, transformed into a cosy sanctuary. Y/n had pulled out the couch to its full size, layering it with a soft, inviting blanket and scattering pillows around. A few of her stuffed toys nestled in the corners, adding a playful touch, while a small assortment of chocolates and snacks sat neatly on the table beside the sofa, within easy reach. The fairy lights sheâd insisted on months agoâ âThey add character!â sheâd arguedâwere now casting a warm, gentle glow over the room, their soft twinkle making the space feel magical. The TV was ready, paused at the latest episode of âThe Bachelorâ, the title screen glowing in quiet anticipation. As if that wasnât enough, a few lavender-scented candles flickered softly in the background, their soothing aroma already working to calm his frayed nerves. Sheâd remembered, of courseâlavender always helped him unwind.
He stood there for a moment, taking it all in, his heart swelling with gratitude and affection. This wasnât just a room; it was a safe haven. Yet none of it held a candle to her. Y/n was his safe haven. She stood in the middle of it all, a quiet smile playing on her lips, her eyes full of love and a hint of mischief. Y/n wasnât just the one who made the room feel like home. She was home.
âHey, youâve been standing there for a while. Want me to bring the party to you?â she quipped.
With a terse nod, he shakes his head and runs over to her. No words were needed.
As he reached her, she shifted on the couch, sitting upright to make room for him. Without hesitation, he lowered himself onto the soft cushions, resting his head against her chest. The steady rhythm of her heartbeat filled his ears, a soothing melody that made every hardship, every struggle of the last few days, feel distant and almost insignificant. He snuggled in closer, his body melting into hers, while her arms wrapped around him protectively. One hand rested on his back, grounding him, while the other slipped into his hair, her fingers weaving through the strands with gentle, rhythmic motions.
For years, Tim Bradford had carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, always the protector, always the shield. But here, in her arms, he finally felt something he hadnât allowed himself to feel in far too long.
Safe. Protected. Home.

Better Late Than Never: Alternate Ending
SUMMARY: After one too many broken promises, Glen realizes he might lose the person who means the most to him. But proving he's ready to be the man you deserve proves to be harder than he expected.
A/N: Thank you to everyone for the comments and feedback on this story. Here is an alternate ending where you (and your friends) make Glen work a little harder to win you back over.
As always I'd love to hear what you guys think of this version! Did you like it better than the original? I'd love to see your opinion in the comments!

**THE BEGINNING OF THIS STORY IS THE SAME. THIS ALTERNATE ENDING PICKS UP AT THE BAR WHEN GLEN SHOWS UP** - READ THE ORIGINAL VERSION -- HERE
The music thrummed through the bar, matching the energy of the group gathered around the high-top table. Glasses clinked together in a loud, boisterous toast, followed by laughter that was as unrestrained as it was contagious. You couldnât help but smile, letting the warmth of the moment replace the earlier disappointment that had been gnawing at the edges of your birthday.
"To another year of dodging bad dates and drinking great cocktails!" Maggie shouted, raising her glass dramatically. The group erupted in cheers as you shook your head, laughing. She nudged you with her shoulder. "And to you, finally realizing what a catch you are."
You rolled your eyes, but the grin stayed plastered on your face. "Thanks, Maggie."
The group dissolved into casual chatter, and for the first time that night, you felt like you could breathe again. The sting of Glen cancelling dinnerâthe dinner youâd looked forward to all weekâwas starting to fade, dulled by the buzz of margaritas and the steady rhythm of laughter surrounding you.
âOkay, itâs your birthday, so spill,â one of your friends teased, leaning closer. âWhatâs the plan for your next year of life? New goals? Big dreams? New men?â
You were mid-sip, considering how to answer, when the door to the bar opened. A gust of air swept through the room, and instinctively, your eyes flickered toward the entrance.
And thatâs when you saw him.
Glen.
Glen stepped into the bar, the low hum of conversation and the upbeat music doing little to calm the nerves rattling inside him. He scanned the room, searching for you, but all he could see was a blur of faces. His heart sank as he realized how crowded it was, and for a moment, he wondered if coming here was a mistake.
But then he spotted Maggie weaving through the throng of people, her sharp eyes zeroing in on him like sheâd been expecting this. The relief he felt at seeing a familiar face quickly evaporated when he noticed the look on hersâunimpressed and unyielding.
âGlen,â she greeted, her voice flat as she stopped directly in front of him, effectively blocking his path.
âMaggie.â He tried to keep his tone even, but the urgency crept in anyway. âWhere's she at? I need to talk to her. I need to explain.â
Maggie folded her arms, tilting her head in that way that made him feel like he was already losing. âExplain what? That you bailed on herâagain? Or that you decided a party in New York was more important than dinner with her?â
He clenched his jaw, feeling the sting of her words. âI didnât bail,â he said firmly. âI texted her. I told her Iâd be late, but Iâd be here. I justâthings didnât go as planned.â
âDidnât go as planned,â Maggie echoed, her tone dripping with disbelief. âThatâs your excuse? Glen, she waited for you. She planned her whole night around you. And then you just...what? Text her last minute and think that makes it okay?â
Glen rubbed a hand over his face, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. He hadnât planned for this confrontation, not tonight. Not with Maggie.Â
âLook,â he said, forcing himself to stay calm, âI know I messed up, okay? But Iâm here now. I just want to talk to her.â
Maggie didnât budge. âAnd what? Tell her youâre sorry? That it wonât happen again? Because letâs be real, Glenâit will.â
Her words hit harder than he expected. He opened his mouth to argue but stopped himself. Was she wrong? He hated the doubt that crept in.
âShe deserves better,â Maggie continued, her voice softening but losing none of its edge. âAnd Iâm not going to let you show up now, just because itâs convenient for you, and pretend like you didnât hurt her.â
Glenâs chest tightened, the weight of her words settling heavy on him. âItâs not like that,â he said, his voice quieter now. âI didnât want to miss dinner. I didnât mean to let her down. I just...I screwed up. But I want to make it right.â
Maggie studied him for a long moment, her sharp gaze searching his face for any sign of sincerity. âYou say that,â she said finally, âbut actions speak louder than words. And so far? Your actions suck.â
He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. This wasnât how tonight was supposed to go. Heâd been so sure that if he could just talk to you, explain everything, youâd understand. But now, standing here under Maggieâs scrutinizing glare, he wasnât so sure anymore.
âI just...I need to see her,â he tried again, his voice barely above a whisper. âPlease, Maggie. Let me talk to her.â
She hesitated for a beat before shaking her head. âNot tonight, Glen. She deserves to enjoy her birthday without you making it about your mess. Go home.â
He opened his mouth to protest, but the finality in her tone stopped him. Defeated, he nodded, stepping back.Â
âFine,â he said, though the word felt hollow.
As he turned to leave, he glanced toward the table where you were sitting, laughing with your friends. The sound of your laughter, even from across the room, hit him like a gut punch. He had no right to interrupt that moment, no matter how much he wanted to.
Walking out of the bar, he shoved his hands into his pockets, his mind already racing with ways to fix this. Maggie might have won this round, but he wasnât giving up. Not on you. Not this time.
When Maggie returned to the table, she had that lookâstern but protective, the kind of look that meant she wasnât going to let you off the hook without saying her piece.
âWhat happened?â you asked, your voice barely above a whisper as you leaned closer, nervous to hear her answer.
Maggie slid into her seat and took a deliberate sip of her drink, her eyes darting toward the bar. âHe wanted to talk to you,â she said calmly, setting her glass down.
Your stomach flipped, a mix of hope and dread rising in your chest. âAnd?â
âI told him he couldnât.â
Your heart sank, confusion flashing across your face. âYou what?â
âI told him you didnât need this tonight,â she said, her tone firm but not unkind. âThat he canât just show up whenever itâs convenient for him and expect you to drop everything to listen to him.â
Your jaw tightened as you stared at her, struggling to piece together what she was saying. âWhat did he say?â
âHe said he wanted to explain, that he felt bad about missing dinner. But I told him enough is enough. This isnât the first time heâs let you down, and I wasnât going to let him ruin your night with some half-hearted apology.â
âMaggie...â you started, your voice trailing off.
âNo,â she cut in, holding up a hand to stop you. âYouâve had a crush on him for how long now? Years, right? And you let him get away with stuff because it's him. If I did half the shit he does you wouldn't be my friend anymore. Donât even try to deny it.â
Your cheeks flushed, and you looked away, fiddling with the condensation on your glass.
âIâm not saying itâs your fault, but letâs be real hereâthe crush is why you let him get away with it. If he were just some friend who bailed all the time, you wouldnât make excuses for him like this. But because itâs Glen, because you like him, you let it slide. Every time.â
âThatâs not fair,â you mumbled, though the weak protest did little to convince even yourself.
âItâs not about fair,â Maggie said, her tone softening just slightly. âItâs about what you deserve. And if heâs just your friend? Fine. Let him screw up every now and then, no big deal. But if you want him to be more than that? If he ever wants to be more than that? Then he has to act like it. And bailing on dinner to go to a party isnât acting like it.â
You sighed, her words sinking in like weights tied to your chest. âHeâs not a bad guy, Maggie,â you said quietly.
âIâm not saying he is,â she said gently. âBut I am saying that you deserve better from a partner. You deserve someone who shows up, who puts you first. Not someone who expects you to rearrange your life around their schedule and call it love.â
Her words stung because you knew they were true. The hope youâd been clinging toâthe idea that Glen might finally see you as more than just a friendâfelt paper-thin now, flimsy and fragile under the weight of reality.
âI just...â you started, but your voice faltered. You didnât even know what you wanted to say.
Maggie reached out, squeezing your hand. âI love you,â she said, her tone softening even more. âAnd I know how much you care about him. But you canât keep letting him off the hook just because you want him to care about you the same way. He either steps up, or he doesnât deserve to be the guy youâve been waiting for.â
You swallowed hard, nodding as you blinked back the sting in your eyes. âYouâre right,â you whispered, though the words felt like they might break you.
Maggie gave you a small, encouraging smile. âCome on,â she said, giving your hand another squeeze. âItâs your birthday. Donât let him ruin it.â
You forced a smile, nodding as you straightened in your seat. The night wasnât over yet, and you werenât ready to let Glenâor your own feelings for himâruin it. Not tonight.
* * * * *
By the time Maggie pulled up to your place, the weight of the night was beginning to settle in your chest. The buzz from the drinks had worn off, leaving you raw and tired. You unclipped your seatbelt as Maggie parked by the curb, and she turned to you with a small smile.
âHappy birthday,â she said softly.
She then reached into her purse. She handed you your phone, and for a moment, you just stared at it.
âThanks,â you mumbled, your fingers curling around the familiar weight of the device.
âGet some rest, okay? Youâve had a long day,â Maggie added, her tone light, but there was an edge of concern underneath.
âI will,â you replied, forcing a small smile to reassure her.
She lingered for a second, her eyes searching yours before she nodded. âGoodnight.â
âNight.â
You stepped out of the car and watched her drive away before heading up to your apartment. The silence of your place greeted you like an old friend, but tonight, it felt heavier than usual. You kicked off your shoes and left them by the door, shrugging off your jacket as you wandered into the living room.
Sinking onto the couch, you finally unlocked your phone, the bright screen momentarily blinding you in the dim room. Notifications lit up one after another, but your eyes landed on Glenâs name almost immediately.
Your heart skipped a beat as you opened his messages, scrolling through them one by one.
7:12 PM: Hey, Iâm really sorry about missing dinner last night. My interview ran long, and I missed my flight. I had to stay an extra day, but I swear I wasnât blowing you off. Can't wait to see you tonight!
You frowned, your thumb hovering over the screen. He hadnât mentioned the missed flight last nightâhadnât even tried to explain until now.
8:07 PM: Iâm running late, but Iâll be there. Just got back into Austin and hit traffic.
Your stomach tightened. The memory of sitting at the restaurant, checking your phone every few minutes, flashed through your mind. You hadnât seen this message. By 8 youâd already given up on him.
8:46 PM: Where are you? I went to the restaurant, but I guess I just missed you.
You bit your lip, the weight in your chest growing heavier.
10:15 PM: Iâm sorry. I know Iâve let you down, and I hate that I keep doing this to you. Maggie said you didn't want to talk to me. Please donât give up on me. Iâll fix this. I swear.
You stared at the screen, your throat tightening as the words blurred. His texts were full of apologies, of promises you werenât sure he could keep. You wanted to be angry, to hold onto the frustration and disappointment, but a part of youâa soft, stubborn partâwanted to believe him.
You sighed, setting the phone down on the coffee table and leaning back against the couch. The room was quiet, save for the faint hum of the fridge in the kitchen. You closed your eyes, the words from his last message echoing in your mind.
Please donât give up on me.
Your fingers itched to respond, to demand answers, but instead, you grabbed your phone again and typed out a simple reply: Weâll talk tomorrow.
You stared at the message for a moment before hitting send. It wasnât much, but it was enough for now.
As you set your phone back down, a knock at the door startled you, echoing through the stillness of your apartment. Your heart leapt, and for a second, you considered ignoring it. But somethingâsome quiet, nagging feelingâpulled you to your feet.
When you opened the door, Glen stood on the other side, his hands shoved into his jacket pockets and an almost sheepish look on his face.
âI know itâs late,â he started, his voice soft but urgent. âBut I needed to see you.â
Your grip tightened on the edge of the door, your tired eyes narrowing. âGlen, itâs not a good timeââ
He reached out, his hand gently pressing against the door to stop you from closing it. âPlease,â he said, his eyes pleading. âJust give me five minutes. Let me explain.â
You hesitated, the frustration and hurt bubbling just beneath the surface. But something in his voice, in the way he looked at you, made you pause. With a resigned sigh, you stepped aside and let him in.
You crossed your arms over your chest, leaning against the wall near the door as Glen stepped inside. He seemed almost hesitant, like he knew he was walking a tightrope.
âOkay,â you said, your tone clipped. âYouâve got five minutes.â
He nodded, running a hand through his hair. âLook, I messed up. I know I did. But I swear, I wasnât trying to let you down again. My interview ran over, and I missed my flight. By the time I got back to Austin, I figured youâd already left the restaurant.â
You raised an eyebrow, the heat rising in your chest. âAnd then what? You just decided to go to a party instead?â
He blinked, his brow furrowing in confusion. âWhat? No, thatâs notââ
âWas your interview with Alanna Norris?â you interrupted, your voice sharp.
Glen froze, the color draining slightly from his face. âWhat are you talking about?â
You stepped forward, your phone suddenly feeling heavy in your pocket. âI saw the pictures, Glen. The videos. You at that party with her, laughing, smiling, looking like you didnât have a care in the world. While I was sitting at home alone, trying to figure out you didn't show up for the birthday dinner you planned for me.â
His shoulders slumped, and he looked down for a moment before meeting your gaze. âItâs not what it looked like.â
âThen what was it?â you shot back, your voice trembling with a mix of anger and hurt. âBecause from where Iâm standing, it looks like you bailed on me for some party for one of your Hollywood friends.â
He stepped closer, his hands out as if he were trying to reach for you but hesitated. âI didnât plan to go to that party, okay? I only went because I realized I wasnât going to make it back to Austin in time for dinner. It was a networking thingâwork, nothing more. I wasnât there to have fun, I was there because I thought it might help my career.â
You let out a bitter laugh, shaking your head. âWork. Itâs always about work with you, isnât it?â
He sighed, his expression pained. âI know it sounds like an excuse, but itâs the truth. You know how important this weekend is to me. I didnât want to miss your dinner, but when I realized I couldnât make it, I thought at least I could make the most of the night professionally.â
You moved to the couch and sat down, arms still folded as you glared at him. âThatâs convenient, isnât it? You always have a reason, Glen. Thereâs always an explanation, but it doesnât change the fact that you werenât there. Again.â
Glen followed you, dropping to his knees in front of you. He looked up at you, his eyes full of sincerity, and for a moment, you hated how much it pulled at your heartstrings.
âWhen have I ever lied to you?â he asked, his voice quiet but firm. âEver?â
Your lips parted, ready to counter him, but the words didnât come. You wanted to call him out, to tell him he was wrong. But the truth was, he wasnât. Glen had let you down, canceled plans, missed important momentsâbut heâd never lied.
You sighed, looking away. âItâs not about lying, Glen. Itâs about priorities. It feels like Iâm always coming in second to everything else in your life. Your job, your career, your networking events.â
He leaned back slightly, his hands resting on his thighs. âThatâs not true,â he said softly.
âIt feels true,â you replied, your voice cracking slightly. âI waited for you, Glen. I was sitting there, hoping youâd show up, and you didnât. And yeah, maybe you didnât lie, but it doesnât change the fact that I was alone on my birthday because you couldnât be bothered to put me first for once.â
His jaw tightened, and he nodded slowly. âYouâre right,â he said, his voice barely above a whisper. âI shouldâve been there. No excuses. And I hate that I wasnât. I hate that I keep screwing up with you.â
You glanced down at him, your chest tightening at the vulnerability in his expression. He looked genuinely hurt, but that didnât erase the ache you felt.
âI donât know if an apology is enough,â you admitted quietly.
âI donât expect it to be,â he said, his eyes locked on yours. âBut I promise you, Iâll do better. Iâll prove it to you, Y/N. Just⊠donât give up on me.â
His words hung in the air, and for a moment, you didnât know what to say. The sincerity in his voice was undeniable, but the weight of his past letdowns still lingered.
You sighed, leaning back against the couch. âI need time, Glen. I canât just pretend everythingâs okay overnight.â
He nodded, standing up slowly. âIâll be here when youâre ready.â
He hesitated, as if he wanted to say more, but instead, he turned and walked toward the door. Before leaving, he glanced back at you one last time. âHappy birthday. I hope it was still a good one.â
And then he was gone, leaving you alone with your thoughts and the faint echo of his words.
* * * * *
The next morning, you were still in your pajamasâa faded T-shirt and a pair of shortsâwhen the knock on your door startled you. Coffee in hand, you hesitated for a moment before peeking through the peephole.
Glen.
With a sigh, you set your coffee down and unlocked the door. As you opened it, your eyes immediately widened at the sight in front of you. Glen stood there holding a bouquet so large it nearly obscured his face. Roses, lilies, sunflowersâpractically every flower imaginableâwere packed into the arrangement, making it look more like a garden than a bouquet.
You blinked, crossing your arms over your chest as you leaned against the doorframe. âWhat⊠are you doing?â you asked, your voice laced with skepticism.
Glen peeked out from behind the flowers, his expression impossibly earnest. âIâm fixing this.â
Your brow arched. âWith⊠that?â You gestured toward the bouquet.
He stepped forward, undeterred by your guarded tone. âPartly, I remember you said a few months ago no one's ever bought you flowers for your birthday. So here are flowers for your birthday,â he said with a small smile, tilting the bouquet toward you. âBut mostly, Iâm here to show you Iâm serious.â
You hesitated, glancing between him and the flowers. âGlen, I donât need a grand gestureââ
âI know,â he interrupted gently. âI know this doesnât fix everything. But itâs a start. And I needed you to see that I mean it when I say Iâll do better.â
You let out a small, incredulous laugh, shaking your head. âYou realize this is borderline ridiculous, right?â
A grin tugged at the corner of his lips. âAbsolutely. But I figured if Iâm going to make a fool of myself, I might as well go all in.â
You couldnât help the small smile that crept onto your face despite your best efforts to remain guarded. âYou really donât give up, do you?â
âNot when it comes to you,â he said, his tone soft but firm.
The sincerity in his voice caught you off guard, and for a moment, you didnât know what to say. Glen took the opportunity to step inside, setting the bouquet down on your coffee table. The oversized arrangement looked absurdly out of place in your small living room, but somehow, it felt⊠fitting.
He turned back to you, his hands slipping into his pockets. âLook, I know Iâve let you down more times than I can count. And I know flowers and apologies donât erase that. But I want to make this right,Y/N. I want to show you that I can prioritize you the way you deserve.â
You studied him for a long moment, trying to gauge the sincerity in his words. As much as you wanted to stay mad, it was hard to ignore the way he looked at youâlike you were the only thing that mattered in the world.
âAnd how exactly do you plan to do that?â you asked, your tone cautious.
âFor starters,â he said, pulling his phone out of his back pocket, âI cleared my entire schedule for the next couple days. No interviews, no networking events, no work commitments. Itâs just you and me.â
Your eyes widened slightly. âYou did that?â
âI cleared my schedule,â he repeated, holding the notebook up as if to prove it. âI told my manager I needed time off. And believe me, she wasnât happy about it. But I didnât care, because I meant what I said last night. Youâre more important.â
The walls youâd carefully constructed around your heart started to crack, but you werenât ready to let them crumble just yet.Â
âThatâs a nice sentiment,â you said quietly. âBut what happens when the next big opportunity comes along? Or the next party? Am I just supposed to hope you wonât drop me for that, too?â
Glen took a step closer, his gaze steady. âNo. You shouldnât have to hope,Y/N. You should know. And Iâm going to make sure you do.â He paused, his expression softening. âLook, Iâm not perfect. I know Iâll probably screw up again at some point, but I want you to know that Iâm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work. Because losing you isnât an option for me.â
You swallowed hard, his words hitting you square in the chest. For all your frustration and hurt, it was impossible to ignore the depth of his sincerity.
âI donât know, Glen,â you said after a moment, your voice quieter now. âI want to believe you, but itâs hard. Itâs really hard.â
âI know,â he said, his voice just as soft. âAnd Iâm not asking you to forgive me right away. I just⊠I want a chance to prove to you that I can do better.â
You looked away, your emotions a tangle of doubt, hope, and fear. After a long silence, you finally met his gaze again.
âOkay,â you said, your voice barely above a whisper. âBut Iâm not making any promises.â
Glen nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. âJust give me one more chance. Thatâs all Iâm asking for.â
He hesitated for a moment before stepping closer, his hand brushing yours lightly. âFriends?â he asked, offering a tentative olive branch.
You exhaled, a faint smile breaking through despite yourself. âFriends,â you agreed, though the word felt heavier than it should have.
As Glen lingered near the door, his eyes swept over your living room, still filled with traces of your everyday lifeâblankets draped over the couch, books stacked haphazardly on the coffee table next to the over-the-top bouquet heâd brought. He glanced back at you, his hands in his pockets again, and tilted his head with a small smile.
âSo,â he began, his tone casual, âhow about I take you to that coffee shop you love downtown? My treat.â
Your brow arched slightly as you regarded him, arms still loosely crossed. âYouâre really laying it on thick this morning, huh?â
Glen shrugged, his grin widening. âI figured I needed to pull out all the stops. Besides, I owe you about a hundred coffee dates at this point.â
You rolled your eyes but couldnât quite stop the small smile that tugged at the corners of your lips. âGive me a minute to change,â you said, turning toward your bedroom.
Behind the safety of your bedroom door, you leaned against it for a moment, letting out a long breath. The morningâs events played through your mindâhis earnest apology, the ridiculous bouquet, his clear effort to show he was serious. It was all⊠a lot.
And yet, despite your lingering reservations, there was a part of you that wanted to believe him.
Shaking off the swirling thoughts, you crossed the room to your closet and pulled out something simple but presentableâa pair of jeans and a cozy sweater. As you changed, you caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror. There was still a guardedness in your expression, but beneath it, a faint flicker of hope was beginning to take root.
When you returned to the living room, Glen straightened up from where heâd been leaning against the wall. His eyes lit up when he saw you, and the easy smile on his face sent a pang through your chestâequal parts frustrating and endearing.
âReady?â he asked, holding the door open for you.
You grabbed your bag and slipped on your shoes, nodding as you stepped past him. âLetâs go.â
The coffee shop was as cozy as ever, its familiar hum of chatter and the scent of freshly brewed coffee wrapping around you like a warm blanket. Glen had already ordered your hazelnut latte and a slice of coffee cake before youâd even had a chance to argue, his easy smile daring you to say he didnât know you well enough.
As you both sat down, the conversation was brief but meaningful. Glen apologized again, promising to do better, and though his words carried sincerity, you held onto your guardedness. He didnât press when you didnât immediately forgive him, seeming to understand that trust would take more than words.
After finishing your drinks, Glen glanced at you as you walked toward the door. âWhat do you think about heading over to the old trail? You know, the one we used to run together?â
You hesitated for only a moment before nodding. âSure. Why not?â
You stepped onto the familiar dirt path, the trail winding through a grove of trees that were barren but still beautiful in their stark simplicity. You tucked your hands into your coat pockets, your shoes crunching against the gravel as Glen matched your pace beside you.
âItâs been a while since we came here,â he said, his tone light. âI forgot how quiet it gets out here.â
âItâs one of my favorite things about this trail,â you replied, keeping your eyes on the path ahead.
He glanced over at you, his expression softer than you expected. âI missed this.â
You let out a small laugh, though it didnât quite reach your eyes. âMissed what? Running?â
He shook his head. âNo. Walking with you. Talking with you. Just⊠spending time with you.â
The words hung in the air, the weight of them making your steps falter for a moment. You didnât respond right away, unsure of what to say. Instead, you kept walking, the silence between you not uncomfortable but charged with unspoken thoughts.
Glen didnât push, letting the moment settle naturally as the trail stretched out before you.
The sound of your boots crunching against the gravel filled the silence as you walked side by side, the air between you and Glen thick with unspoken emotions. When you didnât respond to his earlier comment, Glen glanced over at you, his brows furrowing slightly.
âDo you?â he asked after a moment.
You stopped walking and turned to him with a confused expression. âDo I what?â
âMiss spending time with me,â he clarified, his tone softer now.
You rolled your eyes and resumed walking. âOf course I miss you, Glen. Youâre my best friendâwhen you actually show up.â
He winced but didnât argue, nodding as if to acknowledge the truth in your words. For a few moments, the two of you walked in silence again, but Glen broke it this time with a different question.
âAre you still seeing⊠whatâs his name?â
You shot him a look, narrowing your eyes. âEvan? No, we broke up.â
âOh,â he said, his voice laced with curiosity. âSorry to hear that.â
âItâs fine,â you replied with a shrug. âIt wasnât really going anywhere anyway.â
Glen hesitated before glancing at you again. âSo⊠are you seeing anyone now?â
You huffed a laugh and playfully shoved his arm. âWhy are you suddenly so interested in my love life?â
He grinned, rubbing his arm as though your shove had actually hurt. âIâm just trying to stay up to date on your life. You know, since itâs been a while.â
âUh-huh,â you said, giving him a skeptical look but unable to suppress the small smile tugging at your lips.
âSeriously,â he insisted, his grin softening into something more sincere. âI feel like Iâve missed a lot.â
You glanced at him, your footsteps slowing slightly. âYeah, well⊠you have.â
The honesty in your voice made him stop walking entirely. He turned to face you, his expression filled with regret. âI know. I donât want to miss any more of your life.â
For a moment, you studied his face, the sincerity in his eyes making your chest tighten. You wanted to believe him, to trust that this time would be different. But after so many missed moments and broken plans, part of you still held back.
Glen glanced at you, his lips curving into a small, teasing smile. âSo⊠are you seeing someone?â
You let out a sigh, staring down at the trail ahead of you. âNo, thereâs no one.â
He didnât respond immediately, and you could feel his gaze lingering on you. You resisted the urge to look at him, instead focusing on the way the late morning sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground.
After a moment, you cleared your throat. âWhat about you?â you asked, your voice more hesitant than you intended. âAre you⊠seeing anyone?â
Glen chuckled, the sound light and almost self-deprecating. âMe? Come on. My lifeâs so crazy right now I donât even have time to breathe, let alone have a girlfriend.â
You tried to match his laugh, forcing a lighthearted response. âWell, I guess that makes sense. You can barely make it to dinnerâyouâd probably be a terrible boyfriend.â
He laughed a little louder this time, and though it was meant as a joke, your words carried a heavier weight that neither of you acknowledged.
But deep down, his answer didnât bring the relief you thought it would. Instead, it left a hollow ache in your chest, one you tried to bury as you pushed a stray hair out of your face and glanced at him.
âI mean, Iâm not saying I wouldnât try if the right person came along,â Glen said after a pause, his voice quieter now, almost thoughtful.
You looked at him, startled by the sudden shift in his tone. But before you could say anything, he turned to you with his trademark grin, lightening the mood.
âNot that Iâd have any luck. Iâm pretty sure Iâd forget our anniversary or something and get dumped immediately.â
You shook your head, laughing despite yourself. âYouâre hopeless.â
The conversation drifted after that, the heavier moments giving way to an easier rhythm as you walked the familiar trail together. But even as you laughed at his jokes and teased him about tripping over a tree root, that small pang of sadness lingered, a quiet reminder of the distance still between you.
As you and Glen left the trail, he glanced over at you with a grin. âYou up for one more stop?â
You raised an eyebrow. âWhere are you taking me now?â
He just shrugged, keeping the grin firmly in place. âYouâll see.â
Before you could argue, Glen was already pulling out of the parking lot, his hand casually draped over the steering wheel as the radio played softly in the background. You tried to guess where he was taking you, but he didnât budge, dodging your questions with playful non-answers until the car finally rolled into the parking lot of a small, familiar diner.
You blinked in surprise, a smile tugging at your lips despite yourself. âRudyâs? Are you serious?â
âHey, you used to love this place,â Glen said, parking the car and turning off the engine.
He wasnât wrong. Rudyâs had been one of your favorite spots back in the dayâa no-frills diner with red vinyl booths, a jukebox in the corner, and the best milkshakes in town. It was where you and Glen used to come after late-night study sessions or early morning runs, a place that held more memories than you cared to admit.
The familiar bell jingled as the two of you stepped inside, the smell of coffee and frying bacon hitting you instantly. You couldnât help but smile as your eyes scanned the space, everything just as you remembered it.
âWell, if it isnât my two favorite troublemakers!â
You turned to see Donna, the waitress who used to wait on you two all the time, heading toward you with a knowing smile. She looked exactly the same, her blonde hair teased into a high ponytail and her pink uniform just a little snugger than you remembered.
âDonna!â Glen greeted, his grin widening. âStill holding down the fort, huh?â
âSomebodyâs gotta keep an eye on this place,â she said with a wink, before turning to you. âItâs been ages since Iâve seen you two together. Thought maybe he finally scared you off for good.â
You laughed, glancing at Glen. âNot yet, but heâs been trying.â
Donna chuckled and led you to a booth near the window, promising to bring over your âusuals,â even though it had been years since either of you had been there.
As you slid into the booth across from Glen, you couldnât help but feel a flicker of nostalgia. The playful teasing, the easy way you fit into this place togetherâit was starting to feel a little too familiar, a little too good.
âSo,â Glen said, leaning back in the booth with a smirk, âIâm gonna guess sheâs still got my milkshake order memorized.â
You raised an eyebrow. âYou mean the chocolate monstrosity? Pretty sure thatâs hard to forget.â
He grinned. âHey, donât knock it until you try it.â
âI did try it. Once. And Iâm still recovering.â
The banter continued as Donna brought over your ordersâhis chocolate brownie shake, your classic vanilla shake, and a basket of fries to share.
Somewhere between stealing fries from each otherâs side of the basket and arguing over who had the better milkshake, the tension from earlier seemed to melt away. You found yourself laughing more, leaning into the playful energy Glen always seemed to bring with him.
âYou know,â he said, dipping a fry into his shake with a mischievous grin, âI forgot how much fun this is. Just us, hanging out. Feels like old times, doesnât it?â
You hesitated for a moment, the weight of his words settling over you. But as you looked at himâhis messy hair, his boyish grin, the way he seemed completely at ease in this momentâyou couldnât deny it.
âYeah,â you said softly, a small smile tugging at your lips. âIt kind of does.â
After finishing up at the diner, Glen walked you back to the car, the remnants of your milkshakes still in hand. The air between you was lighter now, filled with easy smiles and the kind of camaraderie you hadnât felt in a long time.
âYouâre not taking me home, are you?â you asked as he pulled out of the parking lot, your tone both skeptical and amused.
âNot just yet,â Glen replied with a mysterious grin. âIâve got one more stop in mind.â
You gave him a sidelong glance. âYouâre full of surprises today.â
âYeah, well, I figured you deserved a day of going down memory lane,â he said, his voice softening just slightly.
The drive didnât take long, but the familiarity of the route had your curiosity growing. When Glen turned onto the winding road leading up to the old scenic overlook, your brows shot up.
âYouâve got to be kidding me,â you said, a laugh escaping despite yourself.
âWhat?â he asked, feigning innocence.
âThis is where kids used to come to make out, Glen.â
He smirked, pulling the car into one of the gravel spots near the edge of the overlook and turning off the engine. âWell, yeah. But it also has a great view.â
You rolled your eyes, but you couldnât help smiling as you climbed out of the car. The overlook hadnât changed muchâstill the same grassy clearing that opened up to a breathtaking view of the valley below. The sun was starting to dip lower in the sky, casting everything in warm hues of gold and orange.
Glen joined you at the edge, leaning on the old wooden railing as he looked out at the view. âYou know, I remember finding you here more than once back in the day,â he said, his voice quieter now, tinged with something almost nostalgic.
You glanced at him, surprised. âWhat are you talking about?â
âBack in high school,â he said, turning to look at you. âWhenever you were upset or needed space, youâd come here. Usually by yourself. Iâd end up driving by and seeing your car parked here, so Iâd stop to check on you.â
You frowned slightly, the memories flickering to life. âI wasnât upset. I just⊠needed to get away sometimes.â
âRun away, you mean,â Glen teased lightly, a grin tugging at his lips.
You rolled your eyes. âI wasnât running away. I just liked the quiet.â
âSure,â he said, his grin widening. âBut youâd always talk to me when I showed up. Even when you said you wanted to be alone.â
You let out a small laugh, shaking your head. âI donât remember you being this sentimental.â
âYeah, well, donât get used to it,â he said, bumping your shoulder lightly with his.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence, the sound of the breeze rustling through the trees and the distant hum of cicadas filling the air.
âWhyâd you bring me here, Glen?â you asked after a moment, your voice quieter now.
He glanced at you, his expression more serious. âBecause I thought maybe you could use a little peace. And because I know this place means something to you.â
Your heart gave a small, involuntary flutter at his words, but you pushed the feeling down, turning your attention back to the view.
âThis place is nice,â you said softly. âI forgot how much I liked it here.â
Glen nodded, his gaze fixed on the horizon. âI guess I just wanted to remind you of the good stuff. The stuff that hasnât changed.â
You looked over at him, his profile outlined by the fading sunlight, and for a moment, you felt a pang of something bittersweet. It was hard to stay guarded when he looked at you like thatâlike he still cared, like he still wanted to be the person you could lean on.
The mood shifted slightly as you leaned against the wooden railing, the soft breeze brushing past you. Glen turned to glance at you, catching the way your gaze lingered on the horizon, a faint wistfulness in your expression.
âYou know,â you said, breaking the silence, âIâve never actually been out here with someone before.â
Glen frowned. âThatâs not true. Youâve been out here with me.â
You rolled your eyes, shooting him a playful look. âNot like that, Glen. I mean⊠as a date. Back in the day, I was kind of the awkward kid. Nobody wanted to date me, let alone bring me out here.â
His frown deepened, and he turned to face you fully, crossing his arms over his chest. âI donât believe that for a second.â
You let out a short laugh, shaking your head. âItâs true. Not everyone gets their rom-com moment, Glen. Not everyone gets swept off their feet or⊠gets to star in the big romantic scenes.â
At that, he laughed, the sound warm and familiar. âRom-com moment? Whatâs that supposed to mean?â
You gave him a knowing look. âYou know what I mean. The big moment in every chick flick where the guy finally realizes heâs in love with the girl, and he makes some grand gesture to win her back. Like, he shows up at her house, or her job, or stops her at the airport to profess his love. And then they kiss, and everythingâs magically perfect.â
Glen leaned on the railing beside you, a smirk tugging at his lips. âAnd youâre saying youâve never had one of those?â
âNope,â you replied, popping the âpâ for emphasis. âNot everyone gets that kind of moment, Glen. Some of us just get⊠life.â
He studied you for a moment, his expression softening. âYou know, I donât think thatâs true,â he said, his voice quieter now.
âWhat, that sometimes life is just⊠life?â you asked, raising an eyebrow.
âNo,â he said, shaking his head. âThat youâve never had a rom-com moment. I think you have. You just havenât recognized it yet.â
You blinked, caught off guard by his response. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
He shrugged, his smirk returning. âJust that youâre kind of oblivious sometimes.â
You turned to look at Glen, his words catching you off guard. âWhatâs that supposed to mean, Iâm oblivious?â you asked, giving him a confused look.
He met your gaze, and there was something in his eyesâsomething intense and vulnerable that made your breath catch.
You started to say something, but he held up a hand to stop you.
âLet me say this...please,â he said softly.
You closed your mouth, your heart pounding as he took a step closer.
âYou mean more to me than anyone else ever has,â he began, his voice steady but low. âYou always have. And Iâm scared, okay? Iâm scared that Iâm not enough for you, that Iâll never be enough. But Iâm tired, too. Tired of not telling you how I feel, tired of watching you date guys who donât deserve you.â
You blinked, his words sinking in, and your heart felt like it might burst from the mix of emotions swirling in your chest.
âYouâre the most important person in my life,â Glen continued, his voice growing firmer now. âAnd if youâll let me, Iâll keep showing you that. Every single day.â
The world seemed to go quiet around you, the only sound your heartbeat roaring in your ears. You stared at him, his words echoing in your head. For a moment, you couldnât speak, couldnât move.
Then, with a slight smile tugging at your lips, you whispered, âKiss me.â
Glenâs lips twitched into a soft, almost disbelieving smile. âYeah?â
You nodded, your voice steady despite the butterflies in your stomach. âYeah.â
He leaned in, his hand coming up to cup your cheek as his lips pressed softly against yours. It was tentative at first, almost as if he were afraid to push too far, but when you leaned into him, his other hand settled lightly on your waist, deepening the kiss.
It was everything you hadnât realized you were waiting forâwarm, electric, and grounding all at once. When you finally pulled back, you were both a little breathless, his forehead resting against yours as his hands lingered on your waist.
âWas that rom-com enough for you?â Glen teased softly, his grin full of warmth.
You laughed, your hands resting on his chest. âIâd say itâs a good start.â
Glen's grin widened at your response, and before you could say another word, he leaned in and kissed you again. This time, the kiss was deeper, more certain, and filled with an unspoken promise that sent your heart racing. When he pulled back, his hands still resting gently on your waist, he looked at you like you were the only person in the world.
But you werenât about to let him off the hook that easily.
âYou do know we're not dating now, right?â You said firmly, though your voice softened as you met his gaze. âIf you want this to go anywhere, youâre going to have to prove youâre serious. No more excuses, no more letting me down.â
Glen nodded, his expression earnest. âI know. Iâll be better, I promise.â
âAnd,â you added, raising an eyebrow, âyouâre going to start by taking me on an actual date. None of this âshowing up with flowers and hoping for the bestâ stuff.â
A smile spread across his face, and he chuckled softly. âI already know where Iâm taking you.â
âOh, do you?â you asked, crossing your arms and giving him a skeptical look.
âYeah,â he said confidently, his eyes sparkling with a mix of determination and warmth. âBut Iâm not telling you. Youâll just have to wait and see.â
You rolled your eyes, but a smile tugged at your lips despite yourself. âFine. Just donât screw it up.â
âI wonât,â he promised, his tone soft but sure.
For a moment, the two of you stood there, the night air cool around you, the stars scattered across the sky. It wasnât a perfect ending, but it felt like a beginningâone filled with hope, potential, and the possibility of something real.
âCome on,â Glen said, holding out his hand. âLetâs get you home.â
You took his hand, your heart lighter than it had been in a long time. Whatever came next, you knew one thing for sure: this time, things were going to be different.

read part two here
The sound of laughter echoed faintly through the bullpen as the last of the team packed up for the night. You sat at your desk, staring blankly at the screen of your computer. The words of your report blurred together, the glowing monitor casting pale light over your exhausted face. You didnât even know why you were still there; everyone else had gone home.
Everyone, except for him.
Aaron Hotchner.
It had been years since the two of you had ended things, but the wound never seemed to fully heal. Time had dulled the ache, sure, but it hadnât erased the memories.
You could still see the way heâd smile when it was just the two of you, the way his hand would linger on yours longer than necessary, the way he whispered your name like it was the only word that mattered. Back then, it felt like you had something unshakable, something real. But life had a way of pulling people apart, and for you and Aaron, it had been no different.
It wasnât a dramatic breakup. There were no screaming matches, no accusations hurled in the heat of the moment. It had been quiet, almost agonizingly so. Youâd both known it was over before either of you said the words. The demands of his job, his grief over Haley, and the ever-present weight of being a single fatherâit was too much for him to bear. And you, despite loving him more than anything, hadnât been enough to bridge the growing gap between you.
âI canât give you what you deserve,â heâd said that night, his voice heavy with regret. âYou deserve more than stolen moments and half-hearted promises.â
And that had been it.
You had cried, of course. For weeks, maybe months. But you told yourself youâd be fine, that youâd move on. You tried to convince yourself that his words werenât true, that you could have made it work. But deep down, you knew he was right.
Still, knowing it was the right thing didnât make it any easier.
Now, years later, you had settled into a new normal. Working alongside him every day was a constant reminder of what youâd lost, but youâd learned to compartmentalize. You had to. There was no room for personal feelings when lives were on the line.
Or at least, that was what you told yourself.
Your eyes drifted to his office, where the light was still on. Through the glass, you could see him sitting at his desk, his phone pressed to his ear. His face softened as he spoke, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
You knew who he was talking to.
Beth.
The name tasted bitter on your tongue, though you hated yourself for it. She was kind, warm, and good for him. Youâd never met her formally, but youâd heard enough to know she made him happy. And wasnât that what you wanted? For him to be happy?
But it wasnât that simple.
Because every time you saw him with herâevery time you heard him mention her in passingâit felt like someone was twisting a knife in your chest. You wanted him to be happy, but not like this. Not with her.
I hope youâre happy, but not like how you were with me.
The lyrics played on a loop in your mind, echoing your most selfish thoughts. You wanted to believe he still thought of you, that some small part of him missed what youâd shared. But the rational part of you knew better. Aaron Hotchner wasnât the type to dwell on the past. He had moved on.
âHey.â
His voice startled you out of your thoughts. You looked up to see him standing in front of your desk, his expression tinged with concern.
âYouâre still here?â he asked, his brow furrowed.
âI could say the same to youâ you replied, forcing a small smile.
He didnât return it. âYou should go home. Itâs late.â
âI willâ you said, though you had no intention of leaving just yet.
For a moment, neither of you spoke. The air between you felt heavy, weighed down by all the things left unsaid.
âAre you okay?â he asked finally, his dark eyes searching yours.
You hesitated. âYeah. Just tired, I guess.â
He nodded, but you could tell he didnât quite believe you.
âGoodnight, y/nâ he said softly, his voice carrying an undercurrent of something you couldnât quite place.
âGoodnight, Hotchâ
You watched him walk away, the sound of his footsteps fading into the quiet of the bullpen.
Once he was gone, you let out a shaky breath, the weight in your chest threatening to crush you. You hated how much power he still had over you, how his presence could unravel you so completely.
Leaning back in your chair, you closed your eyes, letting the memories flood in despite the pain they brought. You thought of the nights youâd spent tangled together, whispering secrets in the dark. You thought of the way heâd kiss your forehead before leaving for work, murmuring promises to come back to you.
And you thought of the way it all ended, the way he walked out of your life without looking back.
It wasnât fair.
You wanted to move on, to let go of the love that still clung to you like a ghost. But every time you tried, you found yourself pulled back to him, to the man who had once been your everything.
You sighed, grabbing your bag and shutting off your computer. As you walked to your car, the night air was cool against your skin, but it did little to soothe the ache in your heart.
Sitting behind the wheel, you gripped the steering wheel tightly, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill over.
âI hope youâre happy,â you whispered to the empty car, your voice cracking. âBut donât be happier.â
The words hung in the air, a quiet confession to a love you could never fully let go of.
And as you drove away, the memories of him lingered, a bittersweet reminder of the love you once hadâand the happiness youâd never find again.

pairing: seungmin x gn!reader w. 1.9k genre: fluff summary: your long-distance boyfriend's birthday is coming up but you don't have the funds to visit him this year. surprisingly, seungmin turns up to your door anyways. warnings: reader is a uni student studying abroad a/n: inspired by the lyrics of this song :)
Choosing to study abroad was a good idea in concept. You got to travel and live in another country's culture for a semester as you worked on your degree.
That was, until you got a boyfriend. He lived back at home and you reconnected over old friends when you were first packing to leave. He'd come over to your place and hang out, playing video games and teasing you when you couldn't lift a moving box without help. Not that he could, either.
His name was Seungmin. He asked you out one week before you left for the semester, and it was the best week you'd had in a long time. You spent almost every day together, hanging out and trying new things until you got tired and crashed at each other's places.
When that first week came to a close, you begrudgingly packed up your things. Seungmin drove you to the airport, holding your hand as far into the airport as he could come with you.
It was through a teary-eyed confession from him that revealed he'd never felt closer to someone before than he did with you. He was too scared of saying goodbye and asked to be your boyfriend, even if he was terrified of moving too fast.
When you agreed, he was using his sleeve to rub his eyes and denied ever crying. He told you to have a safe trip and he kissed you for the first time, promising a million more the next time he saw you.
You thought about that moment every day. Sitting at a desk doing work had never felt more dull, especially when you had a perfect boyfriend waiting for you at home. Life abroad wasn't bad, you were loving it, you just missed him more.
Every night, you stayed up to call him and tell him all about your day-to-day. He'd hop on his computer and play video games with you until the sun peeked over the horizon or you resigned to sleep.
When you weren't calling each other, you texted the whole rest of your waking hours. Seungmin would send a plethora of random photos from his day and complain about his band mates while you responded with your own pictures and advice.
It was starting to occur to you how close it was getting to September, which meant Seungmin's birthday was just around the corner. You had already decided on gifts, ready to buy them so they'll be delivered right on time.
But, it dawned on you pretty fast that you didn't have the money to visit. Studying in another country was really expensive and there was only so much time in a day you could work outside of school. Either way, there was no miracle budget to make it possible.
You told him this almost immediately, and he was extremely good about it. He reassured you that it wasn't necessary and he'd make up for all the lost time soon enough when you were done.
The remaining weeks between then had been full of assignments and deadlines coming up, so it snuck up on you. You'd been on a call with Seungmin the night before playing Overwatch when you looked down at the date on your computer.
"What time is it? Lemme- oh, shit." You stopped mid sentence, staring at the date on your computer screen in awe.
Seungmin looked confused, his webcam up on your second screen. "What's wrong? Do I need to back out of the queue?"
"No, no," You shook your head, laughing nervously, "I just saw the date. Your birthday's tomorrow."
"Don't tell me you forgot," Seungmin looked a little dumbfounded.
"I didn't forget, I just.. I've had a lot going on these past few weeks that September kinda went a little too fast."
"It's okay," Seungmin reassured, "I'll forgive you when I get to open the pile of gifts you've been sending me tomorrow morning."
"I wish I could be there to see it," You lamented.
"It's alright. You'll be able to give me them all in person next year, right?"
"Right! Plus, I'll be able to give you Christmas gifts at least."
At that moment, you connected to a game and the topic of conversation switched. The thought of missing his birthday lingered in the back of your mind, but you pushed it away in order to enjoy the night with your boyfriend.
As the night was coming to a close, you made sure to wish him a happy birthday right as the clock rolled over to midnight. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to stay up another three hours, but Seungmin decided to go to bed early and you followed in his footsteps.
Sleeping was nice. It was one of the times you could see Seungmin. He was almost always there waiting for you with a smile on his face. You could do anything together, just in a fantasy land. Maybe he wasn't really there, but it was enough to keep you going.
That night, you laid with him in bed. Your head was on his chest over a soft sweater as he sung to you. It was the first time in a while you'd dreamed of his room, bringing back all of the fond memories from before you'd left. His posters, guitar sat against his record collection, all his bookshelves. His diary was even on the nightstand beside his bed, true to life.
You almost hated waking up. The world was cruel for taking away the perfect dream it had crafted, but you knew soon enough you'd be in his room again.
Seungmin's birthday fell on a Sunday this year, so you didn't worry too much about waking up early. When you did inevitably get up, you made sure to text him a few more 'happy birthday' messages just in case he forgot about it himself. He was already up, thanking you for the birthday wishes and sending you a photo of his outfit.
It wasn't really his style to be awake and ready this early in the day, but it was his birthday. He has to make the most of his special day, you thought. So, you sent back some compliments and hearts and moved on with your own morning routine.
As you normally would, you kept Seungmin updated through texts on your morning. He wasn't super chatty, but it was to be expected with whatever he had planned. You expected to see a wall of text on what he was up to by the end of the day, but for now it was quiet.
By noon, you had gotten a little concerned, but brushed it off. His family likely had things to do with him, right? Plus, he had to get in some good meals.
It was almost one in the afternoon when you finally heard back from him. Seeing his name on your phone screen gave you an instant feeling of relief.
seungmin: come outside
You heard a knock at your door. The text had you confused, but you followed along. He couldn't be here, right?
Opening the door, there he stood. He was grinning ear-to-ear, shifting around on his feet. "Surprise."
It was on instinct that you threw your arms around him and hugged him with all the weight in your body. His wrapped around you and squeezed you back until you were wincing from the pressure.
"What are you doing here?!" You looked at him dumbfounded, your head spinning.
He looked back at you sheepishly, "I dunno, just thought it'd be cool if I showed up for a birthday surprise?"
"Yeah, but it's your birthday, Seungmin. That's the kind of thing I should be doing on your special day!"
"Well, I knew you didn't have enough to come visit this year, and I made it work! I really didn't want to wait so long to see you again."
You laced your fingers with his and pulled him inside, and that's when the explanation started.
Seungmin had first come up with the idea to come visit on his birthday almost a month prior when he first learned you couldn't come see him. He'd booked a flight out and made sure there wasn't any huge exams around the day.
That morning, he'd gotten up at six just to get ready and look good in time to catch his flight. He'd sent you photos he'd taken earlier when he was sitting in the airport, hoping it didn't look too suspicious.
The absence in texts was his flight over. It wasn't super long, but it was enough that he worried you'd catch onto his plan. From there, he'd gathered his stuff as quickly as he could and grabbed a ride over to your place.
After his story, you made sure to get him some food and snacks, which you happily enjoyed together as he turned on a show. He got a small tour of your student accommodation after the first episode before revealing that he had some plans set up.
Seungmin had made lunch reservations at a place not too far off campus and wanted to take you on a walk there. Of course, you said yes.
The entire way there, Seungmin refused to let go of your hand. He'd swing it along with your steps, chattering on about what was happening and the music he was making. But, no matter what, his fingers were locked with yours.
That was the fun part: Seungmin wasn't usually a big talker. He'd have lots of input to give when you would talk to him, but he wasn't super into initiating his own discussions. Today was different.
So as you walked down the cracked pavement of the sidewalks, your attention was grabbed by your chatty boyfriend. You got to engage with a lot of what he was saying, but it was nice to just walk and listen to him ramble.
Everything seemed more lively. The birds had their own chorus, the grass looked greener, and there were less loud cars blaring their music. By the time you were coming up on the lunch spot, you found your heart contented with the day already, even if you'd only been with Seungmin less than two hours.
"Minnie?" You squeezed his hand softly as you waited at a sidewalk.
Seungmin turned towards you with a smile on his face. "Yeah?"
"Thank you for coming and seeing me," You felt your face flush a little at the thought, "I really don't know how I could've waited any longer without you."
Your boyfriend's big grin couldn't be contained as he let out a quiet laugh. "I don't think I could've waited, either. You've been in my dreams too much lately, and it's been driving me crazy not having you here."
"You see me in your dreams, too?" You asked, recalling the one from the previous night, "It's kind of infuriating, isn't it? It feels so perfect and then it's taken away so quick."
"Yeah, I just couldn't wait another day without having you here with me," Seungmin stopped as you crossed to the other side of the street before pulling you into a hug, "I had to hold you like this for real."
"You're such a dork."
Seungmin snickered as he pulled away from the hug and gave you a quick, yet tender kiss. His lips were soft and tasted sweet, making you miss them the second they were gone. "For you. The rest of the world doesn't matter to me."
"Today really has you in a sentimental mood, huh?" You pulled him in for another kiss, making sure it lasted longer. "Happy birthday."
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go get lunch before you make out with me on the street."

Wake Up Pops
**A sequel to my earlier story, âWake Up Broâ. It might be little premature to write a sequel only a month later, but the second picture really inspired me. Hope you guys like it, and check out the story of Owenâs transformation into Big O**
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/04c8e33c882df0c1f84e9d4aa44d855f/3a4026fe8f2b54f7-71/s400x600/5c7ef93f7408d11abba74ac699f662e6f04aed20.jpg)
âWake up pops.â
Ben Smith looked up at his son in shock. Lately his son, Owen Smith, had been acting strange. He had shot up more than a foot seemingly overnight, and had gained an almost impossible amount of muscle. It almost hurt Benâs brain to think about it, like he was noticing something he wasnât supposed to be able to. Like he was staring at the sun. But he brushed his son's seemingly impossible transformation as a strange growth spurt, just like everyone else did. What other explanation was there? What he couldnât brush off was his sons⊠other changes. It was like he was an entirely different person. He had gone from the shy, sensitive, geeky kid that Ben adored to a sport obsessed, crude, overly sexual jock. Worst of all, their relationship as father and son seemed to have just⊠stopped. Owen and Ben used to be so close. Owen looked up to Ben, Ben adored Owen, and they did practically everything together. But since Owenâs transformation into âBig Oâ he had consistently ignored his father. Too busy with his new position on the football team, with his new jock bro friends, and with the girls he seemed to constantly be hooking up with. This was the first time that Owen had spoken to Ben in weeks, and what he was saying made⊠no sense.
âOwen? Is something wrong?â Ben asked, his first instinct to help his son. Strange transformation or not, Owen was Benâs child. He had to make sure he was ok. Owen grinned a cocky, dumb grin, looking at his dad with slight dull eyes.
âEverything fucking great pops. I just need you to wake up pops.â Owen said. Ben looked at him with confusion. What was his son talking about? He was awake, wasnât he? Own continued, looking at his father with a strange mix of dull amusement and genuine love. âI know you miss the old me. You miss us being close. Iâve missed you too pops. We can be the same again. Youâve just got to wake up pops.â
Ben, concerned and confused, made a move to comfort his son, when suddenly a wave of vertigo overcame him. The room around him dimmed till all he could see was his sons grinning face, his voice echoing around him. âI love you pops, but a stud like me needs a stud dad. A mentor. I canât have a geek for a dad. And this way we can be close again. Youâre meant to be more than this. Itâs time to wake up pops.â Owen said, his grin turning more satisfied and victorious.
Ben felt the room began to spin as he fell back mentally, the words repeating in his mind like an all consuming loop, almost like a vortex. Wake up pops. Wake up pops. Wake up pops. WAKE UP POPS.
Ben was so lost in the words that he barely noticed as his son led him over to a mirror. Ben was so shocked by what he saw that he almost passed out right there. He looked⊠godly. He was impossibly big, with a body so thick and beefy that it commanded respect. His face had become so chiseled and manly that it put marble statues to shame. He barely looked like the suburban dad he once was. More like he belonged in the movies or in porn. He heard Owen laugh, a confident, manly laugh that Ben felt himself echoing without even meaning to. Owen spoke once more, a look of pride on his face.
âFuck yeah pops! Now weâre both total studs! You let your inner jock wake up, and now weâre gonna fucking rule this town together!â
Ben felt his old self recede, as something else, someone else woke up and took control. Ben fell asleep, and Big Os pops, Coach Smith, woke up. Coach patted his son on the back, a smug grin on his face âFuck yeah we will son.â

hi sirinn đ
itâs been a rough week. was wonderingâ if i could request some soft simon? maybe helping his so through a tough time?
love you bunches, hope youâre taking care of yourself!
i feel like this week has been rough for a lot of people. i hope you're resting, staying hydrated, and just taking care of yourself dear. i believe in you and so does simon of course âĄ
you seemed to always hold a level head. it was rare for simon to see you falter, if at all. there was always a smile spread wide across your face, the apples of your cheeks pink, a sparkle in your eyes. your laughs would echo throughout your shared home whether it be from something simon had said, or something that you saw on the telly.
but today was not one of those days.
there was no sparkle in those eyes of yours, replaced with a tiredness that left dark bags under your eyes. you were slow moving when waking that morning, not putting much effort into your hair, and grabbing the first thing you found in your closet. your outfit was mismatched with khaki pants and a weird yellow blouse that simon had never seen you wear outside of the house.
your lips sat in a thin line, unmoving as you silently floated about your home like a phantom. there was no noise even as you packed your lunch for the day; not a peep as you slipped your shoes on and stepped out of the house.
and the second you left, simon got to work.
he knew you too well to know that you were just "fine", a word he had expected you to say if he had even dared approach you about the topic. he saw it in the way you slid along the house, slower than a snail as you got ready for work. he saw it in the dull look in your eyes, far too tired to even look up at him and whisper a simple "good morning".
it was late when you returned home. a later night than normal.
stepping inside of your home, you slipped off your shoes, placing them by the front door with a sigh, peeling away your armor piece by piece as you walked towards the living room.
you were met with the sight of a vase of flowers sitting front and center on the coffee table. white lilies to be exact. the smell of detergent hit your nostrils, and you noticed how clean the couch cushions looked from where you stood. the pillows were fluffed and placed in their respected corners.
the wood floors shined from being swept and mopped, reflecting the soft glow of the overhead light. the tv played one of your favorite shows that you always turned on when you wanted some background noise or needed comfort. the bookshelves beside the entertainment center had clearly been dusted, yours and simon's books organized in alphabetical order. just how you liked them.
the subtle scent of garlic hit your senses after a moment, the smell and a voice breaking you from your thoughts.
"welcome home, love."
your widened eyes darted up to meet simon's pools of amber. the corner of his lips were upturned in a slight smile, one meant only for you.
"hungry?"
your mouth opened and closed as you tried to speak, but nothing came out.
truthfully, you were shocked. simon did do chores around the house. he was fairly organized, clean, a simple man who didn't own too much. he always kept his space tidy. but sometimes things got out of hand, and lately it had been hard for you to keep up with the mess. your workload had been tripled. you had personal issues going on in your life that were difficult to discuss, even to simon.
over the course of a few weeks, you felt like you had been backed into a corner. alone and afraid. it seemed like the world had caved in around you, dragging you into a dark abyss that you felt stuck in.
yet despite that darkness there was a light that shined through, and he stood right in front of you, flour dusting his pale cheeks and an apron much too small for him wrapped around his waist.
your lips quivered. your eyes watered so quickly you couldn't hold back the tears that broke through the dam you had built over time.
but before the tears could break through, simon was at your side, wrapping you in the warmth of his body.
you were stubborn. you were independent, believing you could handle anything that came at you alone. however, right now you had to admit to yourself that you did need a shoulder to lean on. even for just a moment. so you leaned into simon's sturdy chest, letting your tears fall freely after all the time you had kept them bottled up.
"shh, love. don't worry. i'm 'ere."
he wiped at your tears. his warm hands glided along the crown of your head, flattening out the strands of hair that had grown messy throughout the day. you were sure you looked a fright, but simon seemed to care less.
"'m sorry," you hiccupped, tears staining his t-shirt.
"the hell ya sorry for, angel?"
"i-i-i shouldn't be crying o-o-over something so stâ"
"'nough of that, yeah?" his gruff voice cut you off, but there was no maliciousness behind it. he loosened his grip on you, looking down into your teary eyes with an expression you had never seen from him.
"sometimes we 'ave bad days. everyone. myself included. we can't act strong all the time. s'alright ta need a shoulder ta lean on. ya don't need ta handle this alone. ya always there for everyone. always takin' the punches for everyone else. now let someone else take those punches, hm?
you felt your bottom lip wobble again, and when you didn't say anything simon hummed, his head tilting closer towards you.
"s'alright to cry. doesn't make ya weak. only proves that ya human. so let out those tears, dove. i'll hold ya until there's not a single drop left."
